Should the ED forum be just for people who live in East Dulwich?
DulwichFox replied to Charlotte86's topic in The Lounge
My first post here was to sell a Valve Trombone. Guy that bought it was from Scotland. He paid the full asking price and postage. Do not really care where the buyer lives.. Would not agree to allow non E.D. Companies advertising themselves on EDF. Having said that where no local service is available, cannot see problem with someone here (EDF) reccomending someone outside E.D. Many people Eating and Drinking in E.D. Pub, Bars and Restaurants come from far afield. Would anyone even think about barring outsiders from their facilities. ?? Fox -
I'm fed up with EDF timing out when I am trying to post.. Anything longer than 3-4 mins seem to time out then drop out while I am typing. The only way round this I have found is to Type my post in notepad and cut and paste here. Anyone else had this problem.? Fox

Strange bottles full of orange liquid
DulwichFox replied to tarafitness's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Perhaps the Services of the Local Parking Sqaud should be employed. After all you only have so leave your car parked illegaly for 30 seconds to get a ticket.. No.. that creates revenue.. why would southwark council spend any time / money trying to catch this persistent offender that might result in a small fine and an anti social behaviour order. Fox.. -

Every entry in the Registry is specific to a single Entity of your PC. There are many thousands of them. For mail alone there will be hundreds of them. Each Key will Have Sub Keys van have further sub Keys A corrupt Registry 'Key' would only affect one small element of any Programe . Windows Registry error symptoms can include program lock-ups, slow PC performance, freezes and crashes, startup and shut down problems, installation errors, and hardware failure. Just like your hard drive, your registry needs defraging from time to time. More so than your hard drive. Registry Mechanic scans my Registry daily at 19.00 (Time set by me) and recomends a Registry defrag about once a week. Takes about 2-3 mins to complete. If you use your computer daily you really should be using a Registry Cleaner. Registry Mechanic PC Tools Clears up problems before they start to really affect your PC. Deleting Files , moving files , uninstalling programms often leave bits of the program in the registry Reinstalling programs will result in duplicate 'Key' Entries. where the programm will misfunction due to not being able to find correct KEYs and associsted DWORDs which contain all the paramaters your programm needs to function correctly. This results in programmes hanging and timeing out. There will be a KEY / DWORD which will set how long before your programm waits before timing out. Foxy

Hi Sue HTTP Error 400. The request is badly formed. Googling this strongly suggests this to be a Registry Problem. This would make perfect sense. I have Registry-Mechanic - PC Tools installed on All my PCs. It is not Free I think I pay ?29.00 for Three licences. It keeps the registry clean when Things get get untidy. It runs every day at 19.00 and has many other features to keep every thing in place and find 'Broken' Registry Keys. Permanently delete / shred files. You got message:- Expected a ':' after a key that may well be part of the problem but the registry is very complex and serious damage can be done if you try to change things manually. Apart from running Register Mechanic, not sure what else to suggest, apart from trying to access your AOL account from another PC/laptop Fox

It is because we live in a Democratic Country we have the right not to vote. In Non democratic countries voting is compulsory but there is usually only one person to vote for if you value your life. Non Democratic.. You are not allowed to speak out against the Government. Democratic... You can speak out against the Government but no one will Listen or take any notice. Fox.

The fact that AOL does not support Opera means that it is not responsible for any problems you get if you choose Opera as your Browser. Certain addons / extension may not function correctly.. After all you are having the same problems as many other people. AOL technology is being updated. When they say:- We're aware of this issue and should have it fixed soon. They are not talking about Today.. They are upgrading their entire systems... Could take Months to Develop. Even then no guaranty their will not be more teething probs.. Fox...

Until this thread I did not realise people in UK still used AOL (America on Line) Or the problems that so many people experiance... Q. I'm not receiving email with AOL - help! A. AOL are a royal pain when it comes to email. They are renowned for being rather paternal. AOL have filters to prevent spam that seem to catch an awful lot of genuine email. You're not advised of this, the email simply never arrives. On a website now it is preferable to use a form for enquiries rather than list your email address. This is because automated spamware regularly trawls websites to harvest emails to add to their infernal mailing lists. But as this enquiry now technically comes from a server and not a genuine email via an ISP, AOL will periodically block all (or just some) of these email enquiries. AOL can periodically block all emails with certain words in. Spam itself being one of them. If i send an email to AOL clients with advice on how to target spam, i'm fairly confident they will never receive it. Full Artical Interesting Artical on AOL Mail Problems Fox..

paulipedia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dulwichfox and Razors are you trying to be ironic > grumpy old gits? Very funny Ironic - Definition.. The words ironic, irony, and ironically are used of events and circumstances that might better be described as simply "coincidental" As in ' It was Ironic that after being pennyless all her life, she won the lottery and dropped dead the next day.' Do not understand your use of Ironic. ??? As for Grumpy Old Git. I speak my mind / Yes I'm Old / A Git is a Pregnant Camel Fox

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've ascertained that it's nothing to do with > Firefox, as I've got the same problem going via > Opera. > > No problems with any other websites. AOL does not support Opera. Will I get problems if I use Firefox or Opera? We do not support Opera, however, we do support Firefox 1.5 and 2.0. There are add-ons for Firefox that will help your browser access Internet Explorer-only sites. Related link available here Fox..

The fact that it Free is the main reason it is oversubscribed and subject to Network Congestion. This is fine if the content of your mails is not important. Also sending pictures with AOL may be very slow or impossible at certain times. [ Quote ] I also know that the people who are using AOL are doing it because they haven't actually done any research about the alternatives. So while I don't know anything about the price of using AOL versus the alternatives, I strongly suspect that they don't either, which suggests that AOL is probably using this ignorance to get away with charging more than the alternatives. The reason to not use AOL to deliver your mail is that they have an official corporate policy of not caring whether your mail is delivered or not. [ End Quote ] Source. If the Sevice ?? thats a good one, is Free, then no one has cause to complain. If it is causing grief it may be time to move forward 10-15 years and ditch AOL. If you presently have Internet service through MSN (Microsoft Network) or AOL (America Online), you will be able to keep your email address. You will have to access it through their website and cannot use a third-party email program to access it. You will also need to connect using your new Internet service provider. Keep your e-mail address Fox
