If people from SE15, SE5, SE21 SE23 come to eat and drink and spend their money in SE22 I suppose they are entitled to have their say.. As opposed to SE15, SE5, SE21 SE23 businesses advertising here. How ever if SE22 residents need services not available locally, I see no problems advising people where such services are available elsewhere. Fox.

Not sure when the Palmerstone was tarted up but when it was the old pub , 8 Years ago ??? ..opposite outside what was then 7-11 there used to be a group of 'beggars' I say a group because they seemed to have set times and would hand over the patch at set times. They worked what seemed to be 2 hour shifts. There was this guy that would come into the Palmy for a beer after his shift. He was a friendly West Indian guy well known to many in the area. He came in one night after his 2 hour shift and poured a load of change on the bar and told the manager '?20.00 there mate' Well the manager did not want ?20.00 in small change... But ?10.00 an hour 8 years ago ?? not bad. Concidering the minimum pay is now ?6.08 per hour for workers aged 21 and over No wonder people are begging. Fox.

I doubt very much if many Forumites would know me. Even if I appeared on TV. Fox Anon.

I think that shop was Caters Bacon and pies on one side and huge cheeses on the other side.. There was also a similar shop in the Market. and a pet shop that is still there. There were loads of shoe shops. Timsons , Stead & Simpsons, Dulces, Saxones.. Two C&A's, one now MacDonalds Two J. Lyons's Littlewoods. Marks & Spencers now Argos Walworths British Home Stores . My Mum worked there during the War and one day a German plane flew down Rye Lane firing bullets and a man threw my mum under the tailgate of a lorry to save her. You could park in Rye Lane in those days.. :)) Fox...

I was not sure you could travel to Eltham from Peckham Rye... Time table It would appear at the very best at least 1 change was reuired. ie. Travel to London Bridge then back out. Some journeys required 3 changes.. Journey time 44-56 mins not good Fox.

There is still one remaing hut which I believe is for the 1 o'clock club. The others were pulled down some years ago ??? My mother told me it was an open camp and the POW's used to walk about in Rye Lane ?? They made no attempt to escape ans after the War many stayed and opened Cafes.. Fox.

East Dulwich is really a group of 'Islands' co-existing in the same Space-Time Continuum. 1. Lilliput Where making water in the Capital and storing it in small bottles is a crime (Treason) (even though it may well be or the purpose of putting out fires and saving countless lives) Here People who are trying to help are held under suspicion and scorned. 2. Brobdingnag Here Large Creatures (Wasps) are ready to sting you. Pubs Bars Resturants Cafes. Houses that are too big to live in are divided into smaller boxes. but beware of giant Eagles that will carry you away and drop you in the surrounding oceans. Unscrupulous Landlords. 3. The flying island of Laputa, A kingdom devoted to the arts of music and mathematics but unable to use them for practical ends as extracting sunbeams from cucumbers, softening marble for use in pillows, learning how to mix paint by smell, and uncovering political conspiracies by examining the excrement of suspicious persons (Muckraking). See ED Businesses , Restaurants and Trades. 4.Country of the Houyhnhnms Those who may be in the form of a horse who all themselves Houyhnhnms (which in their language means "the perfection of nature"), and that they are the rulers, (Regular Posters) While the deformed creatures called Yahoos are human beings in their base form. (First time Posters) Then there are little-enders and the big enders... Based on which end one should open their breakfast Egg.. This is where Trivia is blown out of proportion as you point out.. Hope that helps Fox
