I think pubs and restaurants have different Licencing rules. Remember when people used to go for a Curry after the Pub shut to get another drink. ? Might not be so significant in our Big Towns and cities but could be significant in more rural areas. There needs to be clarification as to whether any establishment is a Pub or a Restaurant. There needs to be consistency. DulwichFox -

I eat a lot at Memsaab. 6 - 8 times a month Occasionally at Jaflong Tandoori 2-3 times in the last Year. 2-3 times at Mirash in the last year. Never in Tandoori Nights in the last 15 years I ate at Hisar this Weekend for the first time in 5 years I have not eaten in Dulwich Tandoori for months. Never in the Palmerston in the last 15 years. 3 times in Jonnies since it opened. Apart from fish and chips Semas 2 - 3 times a month and the very occasional T/A Chinese 1- 2 times a month (if that) Most of the time when I eat a Curry I eat half of the food and take the rest home. So I do not actually eat very much at all. I do not eat breakfast. So NO I am not Jay Rayner . I'm a Fussy Eater. Foxy -

The Law needs to be changed as to how any outlet is Classified. Is it a Pub that sells food ? or is it a Restaurant that is Licenced. ?? DulwichFox -

Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?

singalto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I notice that all brown bins are still being > emptied and am wondering why I have paid ?25! Any Large Brown bin without a Sticker will very soon be removed. I spoke with the Bin man today. I had Garden Waste in my Large Brown Bin (with Sticker) and Food waste in my New Garden Caddie. I said to the guy. "I haven't put the food bags in the Big bin because I was told not to" He said " that's Ok I'm going to. It's all going to the same place" He put the Food waste bags in the Big Bin with the Garden waste and took it out to the Dust cart. It's all about Southwark Council exploiting its residents and making them pay for the Councils Incomitance. DulwichFox -

They are trying it on. The real problem is that if people go there and they get away with it , ?24.00 will become the norm for roast dinner. Other outlets will do the same. That is why prices in East Dulwich have become so high. Because a certain elements of E.D. residents feel the need to outdo others. If makes them feel 'Superior' DulwichFox -

Having spoken to my regular Bin man on Tuesday Garden Waste and Food waste are collected at the same time and will be in the same Dustcart. Not sure what to do with 'Cooked' food waste ?? Leave it out for the Foxes. It won't be out there long. DulwichFox -
Dulwich Hospital Demolition
DulwichFox replied to Captain Marvel's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Dulwich Hospital used to do X-Rays and Blood Tests. They stopped doing X-Rays years ago. They still do Blood Tests unless that has recently stopped. The New wing currently being developed will supposedly be doing X-Rays and Blood Tests. DulwichFox -

It is now Open. Have not been in yet. I'm worried about what I might me asked to pay for a pint. Does seem there is a lot of people dining in the evening so still 'Looks' like a restaurant. Think I will await feedback from EDF users. DulwichFox -

There are plenty around North Cross and surrounding roads. Around midnight. They mate in late February - Early March. Males can have many Partners but only mate once a year. DulwichFox -

I have my sticker affixed to large Brown Bin. but no Outside Food Caddie. I had a bag of food waste and waited for Collectors to come up my road. Had a good chat with the Bin man yesterday about where to put my food waste. He told me to put it in the BIG Brown Bin. I explained that Southwark Council had told me NOT to do that as it would Contaminate the bin. I've been using it for food for Years. The Bin Man said "YES, I've been collecting it for Years." He said Southwark Council Management are just being Bloody Minded. Garden Waste and food waste is all going in the Same Dust Cart. It would seem that Some Collectors are also being Bloody Minded or feel threatened my Management if they do not abide by management rules. The whole thing is a Mess. How many other industries suffer from overpaid Management teams sitting in the Boardrooms with little knowledge of what goes on out in the field, Foxy -

I'm getting a message when I switch my machine on. Dynamic lock not working. It is due to Bluetooth being turned off. You have to pair it to another device. I haven't done this. Its not needed in a home environment. Foxy.

Brown bin collection - Council starting to charge?
DulwichFox replied to slarti b's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have been in touch with Southwark. I told them that I have not received my food waste Bin. I asked if I use the large brown bin will they take away the food waste and was told NO. If I put it in the Brown bin it will be contaminated. Ive been using this bin for food waste since day one. I am now concerned that New Large bins are to be distributed as well as food waste bins and I should of waited for that to arrive and put my sticker on the new bin. What is going on ??? Foxy ETA Was told I should call them back if I do not recieve by Food Waste Bin by Friday. -

Paid for the Brown bin sticker and ordered an outside small Brown Food waste bin. Stickers came and applied to Large brown Bin but still no Small Brown Food waste bin. Will put Green compost food waste bags in large bin and hope they get collected tomorrow. Have no other choice. DulwichFox. -
Helium Balloons are a real threat to the environment. When released Helium Balloons can travel 100's of miles. They eventually burst and come back down to Earth often in the sea where they get digested by sea creatures Many choke. Whereas Helium is one of the most abundant elements in the Universe not much exists on Earth. Most of it escapes into the atmosphere. It cannot be made in large quantities It is produced when Certain Radio active elements decay and can take 1000's of years. The most important component of an MRI system is a large magnet containing superconducting wire cooled to 4.2 Kelvin, or minus 452 F. "Helium is currently the only element on Earth that can effectively keep the magnet this cold and consequently allow for the high field strength, stable and uniform magnetic fields that make modern MRI systems possible. When the Helium has gone , it has gone. Do not waste it on polluting Balloons. DulwichFox

Has anyone received their garden/brown bin sticker?

I have to say that apart from my own Sticker I have not seen a single Brown Bin with a sticker on it. Dulwichfox. -
I did go to the Taj Mahal in Thornton Heath near the station. I had driven past it many times and thought I would try it. It was like going back 40 years. The elderly owner ?? had been there 30 years. D?cor was from the 70's and would probably cost a lot of money back then. Hygiene rating of 4. Everything was just old but nothing seriously bothered me. Food was nice. It was very cheap. With bottled Kingfisher at ?2.85 I was there at 8.00pm - 9.00pm and it was very quiet with people arriving who appeared to be regulars. I had Chicken Madras which was very Good but there was something very 1975 ish about it. Metal Bowls ?? Most places these days use White 'Porcelain' dishes which I personally do not like because they do not conduct and hold the heat so the food goes cold. Also food warmers with tea lights. Elderly owner was Very pleasant. We had a good chat and he was very impressed that I had travelled from East Dulwich. Will be researching more places around south London Foxy

I've been looking for destination Indian Restaurants mainly on the train from East Dulwich. I fancied a ride out today. I got the P13 to Streatham knowing that the Train from Streatham goes to East Dulwich. Did not find any Indian Restaurants near the Station so got the train back to East Dulwich We got delayed at Tulse Hill where the Driver told us we were being held on a Red Light with no known reason. Suddenly there was a tremendous thundering noise as a Magnificent Steam Locomotive pulling several Very smart Pullman Coaches came through next to our train. It may well of come through East/North Dulwich. Did anyone see it ? You would of definately heard if it had. Foxy

Has anyone received their garden/brown bin sticker?

Not one person ever. So I > doubt this will catch on... I have ALWAYS done this. The selected bins for that week are placed just inside my gate with the Handles pointed at the gate/street so the bin people can drag them out to the Dust cart. What would be the point of having them pointing in any other direction apart from just being bloody minded. ? DulwichFox -
