  1. I took my nephew there to see the Mummy 3, sticky floors, dirty chairs, volume too high, and rank toilets....went to Mcdonalds after...only because the nephew refused to have KFC, staff there didn;t understand anything we said, or anything anyone said for that matter so we were queuing up forever whilst we and everyone explained for the 10th time our order. Peckham sucks. But all the other cinemas are so far. They do have attitude in Peckham, Kissing the teeth, walking slow like a tourist and shoving pass people is the norm in peckham...as is pushing meat in dirty trolleys across dirty polluted roads to dirty butchers in peckham...yuk...I used to like Peckham as a kid...BHS, Marks and Spencers....Sigh.

I'm a veggy and prefer to > have lots of small dishes rather than one main The Meze are really not that nice or authentic, I was there on Saturday after hearing rave reviews, but seriously after going Turkey and trying Meze Mangal in Lewisham, Hisar is terrible. Try Meze Mangals to see what a Meze should taste like and the veggie options is better.
  3. I just go to Sainsbury's and use their clothes recycling bin, you can go any hour of the day and dump it all in there!
  4. I would have thought the embarrassment of being caught, hands pinned behind their back and marched through the shopfloor and bundled to the back room, being searched and having the police come, question you and then being marched through the shopfloor again, this time handcuffed and being led by the police into a police car would be embarrassment enough!! Security guards are supposed to give chase, and catch shoplifters but they are not told to hit them, or use violence. I am very anti crime, but I am also anti violence in situations like what happened in Somerfield as I witnessed the same kind of thing in Kings, a drunk man coming into A&E, just being drunk and slurring his words and falling into things and the security guards uses their own 'discretion' and used violence on him, my mother and I and various others were so appalled, we had to tell the security guards off and complain. And don't you know? Most people are in the wrong job!!
  5. Unlike you Louisa, I am realistic, I know that beating up shoplifters would not deter other shoplifters. They are chancers, if they see an opportunity, they will take it, even if they risk a beating or prison. Also most people cannot be allowed to use their own discretion as they tend to abuse their power of authority!
  6. So if it was a girl or a woman who was a repeated shoplifter, would it be ok to hit her also? after all, a shoplifter is a shoplifter!

Good on the Somerfield > staff I say (if this was a guilty shoplifter). > > Louisa. Marmara Man, said the man was not resistiing his arrest, so if he has a weapon on him, I dont think hitting him or swearing at him is going to remove the weapon do you? Do you also really believe that shoplifters would be deterred from shoplifting from Somerfields because of what happened? you obviously dont know the criminal minds, they dont reason like that. Hence why in countries that have capital punishments, there are still crimes occuring every day!! Otherwise with the electric chair, gas chamber, hanging, stoning, flogging, prison, criminal records etc there would be NO crimes in the world. Get real. If they reasoned like that they would not be doing it in the first place simply because it is wrong and against the law.

Well the prices they charge , I doubt it will put a dent in their profits shame the fat cats don't pay their staff a decent wages!! i am surprised because I used to work for Sainsbury's when i was a teen, and the amount of losses they would have due to damaged goods and breakages ( which happened every single day!!) so I would have thought they would be covered for all of that including stolen goods!
  9. Shoplifters are always prosecuted these days, we have CCTV/Security cameras. Companies have insurance to cover stolen goods. If a shoplifter is caught, he is taken to the back, searched, and the police are called. NO ONE has the right to inflict violence on them, only in defence ( if the shoplifter was lashing out) but swearing and hitting over edible goods? OTT and not acceptable. What about old people who often walk out with goods they forget to pay for? or babies who don't know the concept of paying for goods? or menopausal ladies who forget to pay for things and dont realise until they get home? Even Winona Ryder the famous actress....should they all be handled with brute force since they have taken goods that does not belong to them? Somerfield do not need to issue a sign saying " Shoplifters welcomed here" because every person knows right from wrong, and they know the law, it is like saying we should leave signs everywhere saying " Thou shall not kill, cheat, lie or steal etc" law abiding people KNOW this, but you will ALWAYS have those intend on breaking the law and that is where the police force comes into it. Security guards and Bouncers who like the authority of their job, do NOT have that right to issue their own punishment.
  10. It is not in East Dulwich but I went to Meze Mangal in Lewisham last week and it was absolutely utterly divine! We all kept ooohhing and ahhhing over the food, they give you lots, and the price is so cheap! It was packed and intimate, the stuff was great and it was the absolute best tasting Turkish food I have ever tried. We all have stated that we will be going there for birthdays and special occasions now!! Otherwise I love Springers in East Dulwich, just opposite Dulwich Hospital, it is good old English/European fare, freshly cooked, nicely presented, and reasonable priced, very nice!
  11. Everything is boring after a while...even I bore myself now and again.....
  12. Yes the one by the library/Bombay Bicycle Club does home delivery for orders over a certain amount.
  13. Lordship lane, no water and i am off on holiday on sunday, I need a shower before I jet off!
  14. Yes, The owner is on henslowe road, and that car is the talk of the town! It always makes me smile when I see his car!
  15. As for those wanting a decent steak, Springers does a decent steak among other things, all the men folks that I knw who went to Springers ( and they are a fussy lot in my group) all loved the meat!

Unless it was in El Bulli, in which case she > can PRO (Phuc Right Off) It is because you can get noodles, rice, burgers, meats, salads, curries etc in Dulwich but something like Sushi is not available and I have a mad craving for fresh fish and the likes, if a Sushi bar was not possible then a good seafood ( Lobster, Crab, Prawns, Fish restaurant would serve me well but not a fish and chip shop like sea cow). I like some good healthy food fare. A decent Turkish Restaurant would be great also as Hisar though cheap and cheerful is not fresh or authentic.
  17. I would love a Sushi bar, Yo Sushi or something even better, saves me travelling to Croydon or up west to get some sushi!
  18. Ok I am dumb , ignore me, just read the thread and realised that no one can see my photo on here, just me! Duh, I think I may go back to bed!
  19. I am the Dulwich born and bred girl by the way, he is Dulwich connected purely by association with me! Lucky fella!
  20. Ahhh you will find that picture is of me and my man, how on earth did you manage to get that photo up? That is my profile photo! And no he didnt have sunday lunch at the Plough, but we do visit the Plough when he is in the area!

Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just to play the devil's advocate... if someone > found people of a certain race to be particularly > attractive, would that be considered racist? I wouldn't think so since my boyfriend loves dark girls, he has dated various girls from different cultures but he said he does find mixed girls like myself very appealing, and I am not complaining!:)

I like how the higher powers that be decided that it is politically incorrect to be called mixed race! My skin, my mixture and I like the term 'Mixed Race'. I don't actually find it comfortable to say 'Dual Heritage' and all the mixed race people I know love being called 'Mixed Race', hell, there's even lots of face book groups entitled " Mixed and loving it!" and there are lots of members!
  24. I am mixed race and I like to be known as mixed race as I am not black, nor white. I have a mixture of Jamaican, Dutch, Greek and English, so despite having brown skin, it doesn't make me black. And I most certainly do not feel like I am denying any parts of my roots to black or white people, because it is not about them, it is about me, I have parents who are of different origins and that does not make me black or white,it makes me mixed...fact.
  25. I love the Plough! My boyfriend who is quite fussy and only likes everything from his area in High Wycombe loves the Plough also, high praise indeed coming from him! We can always find a nice quiet area and I love the decor. The staff are extremely friendly. Not tried the food but no doubt we will at some point. I am glad they finally have a website. This pub is my little gem, along with Springers!
