What if you bought your property before the area become the "desirable" shopping area it is now? Does this mean you have to put up with the continuous pressures such development and "progress" always will bring? Not all development is positive - again I am not referring to M&S moving in or not but the development plans for the site. Unless you live in the immediate area where the delevopment will affect you you cant possibly understand the impact expected and cannot comment.
  3. There is "limited" (probably practically non-existent) service on some routes. These would be drivers that are not part of the Union or bought in from other places. I wouldn't stand around expecting a bus to turn up though - make other plans for travel.
  4. it's poor reporting that it's the bus companies that aren't willing to offer the money to their drivers - TFL are the ones still holding the money not the bus companies. For all Boris' twaddle and finger pointing he's still as clueless as usual.
  5. I really don't understand how people can not understand that the importance of the application is not whether it is an M&S, a waitrose or a bloomin' McDs it's the application in itself to significantly change the overall size of the building and the implications/impact such development will have on the surrounding areas - residents! I'd be extremely concerned if the application was approved simply on the basis of the type of company was applying for it!
  6. hmmmm lets see... having to sit in solid traffic in hot weather for considerable periods of time due to diversions and route alterations because of the Olympics, having issues with driving hours limits because you can't get back to where you need to be when you need to be (having to stop on route for a compulsory half an hour rest period) whilst having arrogant and generally stupid people shouting at you because they don't understand the rules you have to follow... compared to train drivers sitting in their cabs not having to deal with general public and being paid extra for the priveledge... yes that's fair
  7. the ed-dealer - not everything is made public - my information, which I appreciate I should have shared my source earlier on, was from a union representative and bus company worker/s.
  8. Even if they were paid that much I wouldn't want to do their job! Besides bus drivers rarely threaten strike action to this degree which is a just reason really... why should tube and train drivers get extra pay during the olympics and nothing offered for bus drivers?

I was being serious - it was originally being balloted for the 18th.. altho I can see the potential humour attached. saleem I don't think it wise for you to make such comments... rocket scientists are frowned upon in ED
  10. Although it might not happen... it was originally scheduled for yesterday (Monday 18th) so who knows... I would advise against thinking of catching the train/tube ... IMO of course :D
  11. Just goes to show they'll make anyone a dame these days ;)

  18. My broadband was happily playing mind games with me yesterday so perhaps it's not just masts being the problem...
  19. so... no one recalling when last we had M&S in the area? *would b nice if ppl took their squabbles elsewhere...*
  20. I doubt the sway is really based on the parties themselves but who there is to represent them... Anywho what's that got to do with the M&S application? Incidentally... does anyone recall or is able to research when M&S was with us the first time round (I can't find anything)? According to SE22 magazine (under the "SE22 Councillors" sections) "a very significant planning application has been submitted to replace the current Iceland with a return of Marks & Spencer to Lordship Lane" Would be interested to know when M&S was last here and where.
  21. But perhaps less steep on the decline. The Lordship Lane bump has a ridiculously big drop when coming up LL from the green which really jars backs and knees when preparing for get off a bus. I'm still in my young years and find it painful I wonder how those in older years fare! EDG has always been an problem with speeding resulting with, on the odd occasion, unpleasant accidents, especially on the bend by the hospital, I not sure bumps are the solution but certainly other traffic calming/control measures need to be considered sooner rather than later. It's been like this for too long already!
