I think the bikes were too heavy to carry and with flat tyres, impossible to ride away, so thank you Tom for posting your message. I will collect them tomorrow. Its never been an issue before, but I think its worth alerting the police that this is a vulnerable area.

I noticed that my post has been removed, probably because it was an ad for a rental in East Hampton New York. Is there any reason why we can't have a section for holiday rentals? The Inter-schools advertiser does a section like this and owners are more than happy to pay for it. Is there anywhere on the forum where I can advertise my cottage?

I don't believe it is only a possibility. Its pretty definite because the Pub needs a huge renovation and this is how they plan to finance it.

For those of you who are interested, there is a meeting today, from 4-7 at the Dog to discuss the future plans of converting the pub into a 20 room hotel.

James, Do we actually know that domestic violence is on the rise? Usually, DV rises when the economy is in decline, i.e. job loss, depression, financial concerns, poor family relationships, etc, then fuelled by alcohol creates an explosive situation. The children especially suffer from DV and this needs to be reported. There is an organisation which I would like to suggest here for male and female victims of domestic violence called Respect. Their website is: www.respect.uk.net/. Please don't suffer in silence...there is help available. For the children, there is Childline on 0800-1111. Any child can ring them and all information is kept confidential. Children do not have to give their names.

I also watched the show and can't help but think he could be prosecuted for fraud. Am I wrong about this? Also he made contracts with several home owners and received money for services not completed. Again, isn't this breaking the law? What needs to be done to prevent this from happening again?

HI Alethea I am organising a Christmas Crafts Fair in Purley on 28th November as part of the full day's celebrations leading up to switching on the town's Christmas lights. It will be held at Purley United Reformed church, Brighton Road from 1-5pm. Stalls for hire cost ?25 for an eight foot table. This fair now has about 30 stalls, children's activities, refreshments and Father Christmas!! Our event will raise funds for the Relate Bursary Fund which assists couples, individuals and young people to receive counselling services at a reduced rate. Please let me know if you are interested.

I heard from a local resident that Liqourice is now providing very loud, live music to all local residents on Sunday evenings with windows wide open......is this in violation of agreed terms under their licence? Did anyone else find this a bit inconsiderate?
