There are 100s of thousands of cyclists. Collisions with pedestrians are very rare. Sorry to hear of the incident but there is a disproportionate response on this thread. Please lobby your MP and the main political parties if you feel our politicians need to be doing more and complain to the police if you feel that they should be doing more. Myself and all the cyclists I know would be horrified to have a collision with a pedestrian, even if every near miss and the one collision I have had, is due to the pedestrian not looking Ditto for the couple of times as a pedestrian I have had a near miss with a cyclist when I didn't look before dashing across a rod That is not being an apologist. Some people in life don't care about endangering others.most do

Oh how mean! Lost my glasses 😞

Train is easier, bus or walk down to Sydenham, Norwood Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick airport. If it is an early flight then taxi or Uber to East Croydon. I always travel light even with young family.

Election tactical voting in East Dulwich
malumbu replied to Sue's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Cut and dried Labour victory. So it's safe to have a protest vote as l will do for only the third time in numerous elections -
Why are they a pest? They are indigenous wildlife. If you want to cull then feral pigeons, parakeets and great squirrels too if my list. I remember an article a few years ago referring to dog poo, yet human excrement far greater danger to our environment. You know, the stuff that gets discharged, untreated, into our sea and rivers far too frequently. So maybe humans need to be called too.

Surely we are all fans of Springwatch. Lots of nesting birds this year, on I-player for you to indulge yourselves. Warning some video nasties including snake predation

Royal Mail Late Deliveries and the price we have to pay

Ideally NHS should let us opt out of hard copy. In deed, I get texts and have the NHS app. And always good to have a calender in your kitchen to write out down too. -
What intelligence do you have? It's only a week since the Lambeth Country Show.

The Kirkdale place is now rebranded as Dulwich Reclamation. From casual observation more and more people are chucking out Victorian Edwardian and 30s doors as they are referbishing their properties. Less interest in period features now. They are often in good condition but once in the skip will get quickly battered. If they are stripped in caustic soda that can warp them. There are far less strippers (!) than last millennium and you can no longer get the non caustic alternative spice the pesky EU banned methylene dichloride just because some people aphixiated when using industrial quantities

Birth rate collapses sounds a bit like Armageddon. It's a mixture of a decline following a bulge, where many schools had to increase intake, and families moving out of the capital due to high cost of housing. Now that is an irony, that only wealthy families, many who can afford private schooling, can afford to live in many parts of London.

Check out Southwark Cyclists and preferably join the London Cycling Campaign. Speak with other parents and the school about grouping together.

Gosh a discussion. Just like we used to have on the Lounge. We are well passed the bulge so there is less pressure on places and sadly some primary schools closing. There will no doubt continue to demand for the 'better' state schools, like the system we have created, or not. And I don't. And on this subject speaking to someone this week who is spending getting on for a million education. I didn't ask about tightening the belt, foregoing the chalet in Verbier, or taking out a second mortgage. So what would be a further £200k? A personal, subjective, and influenced by my own predjudices and preconceptions. But you can guess where I stand on VAT

Au contraire, I bet locals would love that, Coldplay being so soporific that it would send everyone to sleep. But thinking about South Park, where the kids (and the whole town) discover ritalin, Phil Collins takes this one step further. Goodness Gracious Me and the Mumbai students doing an English - "what is the blandest thing on your menu waiter - oh no not the Phil Collins"

Recommendations: where to get a bicycle service

Edwardes is a family run legend of a shop, it's like Jonathan Jo, with a wheelbarrow full of surprises (bit of AA Milne for you there). Obscure parts?, Let's have a look out back..... A sort of British Sheldon Brown. -
Plenty of threads demonising Southwark Council, don't let this one become another. Larger birds taking over a little in the garden, don't mind the corvids, the jay is particularly magnificent. And woodpeckers always welcome. Parakeets not yet taken over but a small flock of starlings are no longer a novelty and go through so much if the feed there for the tits. Feral pigeons are a nuisance. No blue tit nest this year which is a pity. The two baby robins are lovely and very friendly. Also two fox cubs, seeing playing in the garden early evening tonight.

Check put skips, I see dozens of old doors, used to allow more stuff to be put in them. Shame. Place on Kirkdale Sydenham, may even be called Doors and Old Bath house Sydenham

Depends on how far Europe has moved. Worryingly. Coz Farage's end game is to move the Tories to the right. Last time it was for a hard Brexit, hang the consequences So slippery. Labour will have mentioned Truss, but stray away from Osbourne/decline in public services/social care/NHS waiting lists and the need to reposition ourselves in Europe with closer EU relations. According to the Tories we won't have another election as with Starmer in charge their will be nuclear armigeddon

Just wondering when the main parties will own up and say not just COVID and Ukraine that has put us in the precarious financial position but also Osbourne's unnecessary austerity and Brexit

Leash Laws not being obeyed in Dulwich Park

Assuming from the title this is a general discussion on the park. Always liked it. Great for cycling including London recumbents. Kids played there when younger. Never been fond of cafe, others may disagree. -
Ivy House of course. Where else?!

Viadas Honor Oak. Second choice Viadas. Alternatively Viadas. If you've got a super specced bike and have the Dosh as above as nice people who just specialise in servicing
