  1. Lying here listening to the planes. About every minute since 5. And even though I?ve got earplugs in. ☹️
  2. Could someone more informed than me highlight the key changes vs previous plans? At the moment, I'm afraid I still fail to see why the Greendale site should be developed at all.
  3. Interesting that Townley Road is not in the zone. It is probably the local road most parked upon by non-residents, particularly schoolkids in their Fiat 500s.
  4. that's a strange video, not least because it appears to have been filmed on his commute. I think his main issue is that tenants were missold when they entered into the lease. If so then he will need more evidence about the marketing that went on at the time. Otherwise it looks like a landlord exercising their rights at the end of the tenancy; if tenants don't like that (and I can see why they wouldn't) then they shouldn't enter into the 5-year lease.
  5. On a slightly more positive note, I'm glad to see MacRoban's name on the first page. She (?) was a genuinely thoughtful and enlightening correspondent.
  6. Wulfound, I love your optimism Anglina - "critical" is a very binary adjective. I've not driven my car all week, but I can understand that each jounrey comes in a variety of shades from "lazy / waste of time" right through to "no alternative given the need to get to someone in the time available". I wouldn't like to have to quantify these needs, so I'm glad there are others are find it easier.
  7. I met a lost and very polite white van driver coming down Green Dale yesterday morning as he tried to find a way to get out of the Champion Hill maze. Is it right that Champion Hill is now a dead end if entered from Dog Kennel Hill? I don?t think the signs make that clear. This is nimbyism at its finest. When can I have my street turned into a private road that only residents can drive along?
  8. I only found out last week with the latest Dulwich Diverter. I will miss John's laconic contributions to the forum. Over the years, we discussed many points about Dulwich geology, geography and history and I am sad that he will not able to answer my future questions as he did so generously in the past. John seemed to have an endless supply of obscure documents, maps and photos about the area that he loved to share. May he rest in peace and I hope his family are comforted to know what an impact he had on the local community.
  9. I would have thought M&B is probably in breach of its lease if it is letting the site go to ruin, which would let the Estate step in.
  10. And just one chap digging with a shovel. He will need to work hard!
  11. I was wondering the same about Computedshorty. Hope he's ok.
  12. For anyone looking into the very deep escavation in Townley Road, this might explain the vast size of the water pipe that is now visible http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,585579,585909#msg-585909
  13. Broadstairs
  14. Mine too. Well that?s annoying. And expensive. As above, does anyone know any examples of compliant MPVs?
  15. Which people carriers will be compliant?
  16. Under Unfair Contractual Terms Act and other legislation, it is not possible in the UK to disclaim injuries or death resulting from negligence. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1977/50/section/2
  17. @MsCrawthew - I know, it's quite a transparent tactic. Doesn't stop it being effective though.
  18. @ Rendel - because I don't perceive a CPZ as increasing parking availability overall, although I admit this is becoming a closer deal as (i) yellow lines around junctions are being rolled out across the borough (ii) ED is becoming the only place in the local area that does not have a CPZ and so has some 'parking tourists' coming round.
  19. @ Bels123 - thanks for being so open. CPZ is not about improving parking but about discouraging driving. I think some people are not as open as you on this point.
  20. Another regular and happy customer. Steve and Sid have been cleaning our carpets annually for several years and each time I'm amazed how good my carpets look. Steve is dependable and pleasant to deal with - highly recommended.
  21. Just seen this - I'm still not a regular in the Lounge after 10.5 years. 606 posts which averages 1 / week. I've been aiming at quality more than quantity (but have succeeded at neither!)
  22. Back to westerlies. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
  23. @TownleyGreen yes that?s true - until they need permission to build a theatre, or sports centre. Incidentally, the sports centre was I believe supposed to be open to local residents outside school hours but sadly (for some) it transpired after it was finished that this wasn?t compatible with security concerns, which presumably were unforeseeable. Also, there?s a reason you can?t build on MOL: it?s basically urban green belt. And therefore not really supposed to be used for the next unnecessary school facility.
  24. At the risk of reliving a long-running thread, it does seem that Dulwich College is far more engaged with the local community (i.e. non-parents) than either of JAGS or Alleyn's. I wonder if it's either explicitly or tacitly agreed between the three foundation schools that DC will do most of the running when it comes to community outreach / making its facilities available.
  25. That is a tone-deaf letter.
