  1. I'm stoked about the 'up lighters' outside ED station being fixed. Strange to hear myself say that. Setting down roots in a community with a family really changes a man. Thanks all.
  2. Harsh? I think so.
  3. I'll assume edcam was not responding to feuerberg but to the OP...
  4. Penis-shaped bollards and 'funky' lamp posts please. Oh wait, we've already got them. I'm sorted then.
  5. Same here. Our son is obsessed with wheels and gravitates toward cars and trucks. I'm sure if we attached a pair of wheels to a pink and sparkly doll he'd likely go for that.
  6. There is a responsibility on the public not to litter, fullstop. In a world where everyone acted responsibly and civic-mindedly (made up word but you know what I mean) there'd be little need for the council to litter pick. But some people are selfish d**ks and we pay our taxes for the council to remedy their actions or inactions. Noone is arguing that this is the most important service the council provides, but it is one of the more 'visible' and for some less engaged residents one of the few they percieve to receive in return for the tax they pay. If I were a politician I'd be making sure that a minimum standard is always met, and this doesn't seem to be the case of late.
  7. If I'm visiting the DM website, I always keep another window open with porn running in case my wife walks in.
  8. A poster on another thread called it 'hyperbollocks'. Nice.
  9. Do it, RosieH! 10. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/06b9f73c-48f9-11e1-974a-00144feabdc0.html#axzz2CBxEOa00 This is a fairly useful tool. According to it, the 3-bed is way overpriced.
  11. Thanks James. I'll miss the 7.29/7.34 combo (no need to run for the 7.29 as the 7.34 is literally just around the corner) but the new timetable makes sense to me.
  12. I doubt there's a large number of parents who think it's acceptable to cycle on the footpath with their little 'uns. Never seen it myself.
  13. Ted Max Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What this thread needs is a really stout defence > of shit parenting. Agreed, this thread is just people more or less agreeing with each other. I've yet to see a parent justify letting his or her kids run riot in the pub, or a punter justify glassing the first parent who dares enter their local. Maybe we all get along after all.
  14. I wasted an hour at work this morning reading those threads. Thank you, EDF, and thank you Admin for keeping the flashy stuff to a minimum and therefore making the Forum reasonably work-friendly.
  15. "It's not rocket science, but I think considerate parenting is something lacking in a lot of people." But a very small minority nonetheless.
  16. Though rather than re-lay the paving stones they've just asphalted it over. I would have thought the former would have been cheaper and more aesthetically pleasing. No expert though. bloonoo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James it looks like the paving slabs on east > dulwich grove are finally being dealt with, so > thank you very much!
  17. I'm with Moos on this one. We (that's all y'all) just need to strike a balance. No need to rule pubs and restaurants out completely, and no excuse for going without thought for your little ones or the other punters. We had a quick pint and pizza in the Actress at about 5pm on Saturday: in the designated kids area, loads of other kids around, and as soon as my son tired of playing the adult with his 'pizza' (pitta bread) we chugged the last of our pints and left (me, I admit, with a last, wistful look at the beer pumps).
  18. Thanks all. I'm so lazy I've even tried the Polyfilla 'stick' before (it's like a glue pen) and it was useless, so may try a trade product this time around.
  19. "#piece of advice, when trying to find the spoof picture of Victorian era Hammerettes don't type 'victorian hammerettes' into your browser and hit 'images' whilst at work in a sober swiss bank." Confirmed true for Canadian banks as well.
  20. Hi, I've a few cracks in, and several small, round chunks about to fall out of, my plaster walls and ceilings. I want to fix them without replastering and repainting the entire wall, ceiling or room. Any top tips? My house is wall to ceiling white matt. I'd also welcome any explanations for the small, round chunks. They are about the size of a 50p coin and mostly appear on the ceiling very near the join with the wall. Weirdly none have fallen out as yet. Hard to describe but it looks like someone has got a teaspoon and scooped out the plaster, then stick it back in again (I've quizzed my wife and she denies doing this, so we can rule this out as the explanation). Thanks, Chillaxed
  21. Firstly, not sure that acronym is going to catch on. Secondly, I agree it's the public's fault; we get what we deserve.
  22. Otta's right, this is the way politics is going. Unfortunately.
  23. That's true in this case and generally on this forum, as well as at work, and especially at home.
  24. You're allowed an opinion on anything and everything. And you can express that opinion on this forum. And other users can rebutt or take the p*ss out of your opinion as they see fit.
  25. Aye, it's a tricky one, but it's not just Mums and kids and buggies that sit on a coffee for hours - just ask any cafe that provides free WiFi or is within stumbling distance of student digs. There's a difference between objecting to parents and babies and buggies and objecting to customers hogging tables. And you need to think carefully about excludng a group of people based on how a minority of them behave. By the by, these large groups of Mums and little ones must be a weekday phenom as it always seems like a mix of people are in the cafes I frequent at the weekends.
