    Lost weekends

As Jah has said, if you get a big round in it's very easy for big money to get spend. Back when The Black Cherry opened it was ?7 for one cocktail, If you're in a group of 8 - 10 people that's quick money. But back then we all tended to have a pint and a shot, so basically each round meant two drinks for everyone. Then the inbetweeny shots. It was when there was no responsibility, and my body could take a ludicrous amount of abuse (so I tested it's limits). Couldn't do that regularly now, and wouldn't want to. Although one big night a month would be nice, but can't even afford that anymore.

Plus lock ins don't happen like they used to. You need to be in the circle these days, whereas once upon a time you just needed to be in the pub before closing time. There was no need to go outside smoking so the doors got shut at closing and everything carried on.

    Lost weekends

I think thr main problem is money. Even if I was free to have those weekends again (as in single with only myself to spend my wages on, and sharing a flat with a couple of mates), I couldn't afford it anymore. In my mid 20s I'd do about ?120 on a Friday night. At today's prices I'd need ?250 - ?300, and my wages haven't climbed at anywhere near the same pace as the booze.

  5. Hi James, If you've not seen it already, there is a lot of concern in the family room over reports that Harris may have secured rights to build ANOTHER primary school on the hospital site (as well as the police station site). Please advise...
  6. This really does stink if true. Sunday or not, I hope James can shed some light.

We need less traffic not more. Harris Crystal Palace is firmly in Penge. I don't think they really care about the name / area. I know it's the weekend, but I wish one of the councillors would shed some light here, because this stinks.

Agreed SJ. Although I hope people are wrong in saying that will be the strating line up against Italy. Honestly not just saying this as a Liverpool fan, Sterling surely has to start ahead of Welbeck!

  10. Just seen the other thread with the letters between Tessa J & Michael G, suggesting that the hospital site could be used for Harris Nunhead (WTF?). Any info on this James?
  11. Are Harris not building a primary on the police station site? Surely they don't need two schools that close together? And why would Harris Nunhead be in Dulwich?
  12. That's just because your company is boring.
  13. I seriously need to cut back on my smartphone useage!
  14. Just don't use it.

No, I don't blame them for that at all, I was just annoyed by the attention it got compared to the nothing that lots of other kids get, I didn't blame them for it. Totally separate issue to whether or not they share a bit of the responsibility for her going missing (which they do).
  16. Alan wrote "I looked up stats on missing/abducted kids in the UK and the number is a lot, yet we rarely hear about them. " And this was the main thing that annoyed me about the whole thing at the time.
  17. I don't feel strongly like SCSB79 does, but equally, "On site"? Really? I'm not a perfect parent by any stretch, but I would never leave my kids alone in an apartment out of my line of vision, even on a family holiday resort. The main thing that bugged me was the class thing and I think miga's post is very good. Do I have sympathy for them? Absolutely, assuming it doesn't turn out they've been covering something up (which I doubt). Do I think they are partly responsible? Hell yes! But my God they've suffered for it, even if they're not particularly lovable caracters.
  18. Yeah, I could handle no bands, but no booze? Hell no!
  19. No, that would involve turning the xbox on, and that ain't gonna happen any time soon. Basically saying I'd give it a go was just wishful thinking.

But I did find myself just not liking them from the off. And I know that's bad of me, but I just found them instantly unlikable. But totally agree that any crime they commited that night in leaving their kids alone has been more than paid for, and will continue to be paid for (well over the odds) for the rest of their lives.
