  1. Hard to believe its cup final day Even if it was league cup not fa cup, there used to be some excitement
  2. Haha Yeah I did think other teams would push what I thought was a weakened utd side this season. But everyone failed dismally Ah well
  3. hehheh With our new stadium deal and new kit deal and SAF gone, Arsenal are ALL about the future baby! more seriously, this column expresses my feelings towards the game these days http://arseblog.com/2013/05/nos-colocamos-isso-em-babelfish-para-fazer-um-titulo/
  4. I can easily see Man Utd suffering for several seasons, and not all of it the new manager's fault Chelsea are an aberration just because of the sheer wealth and ruthlessness of Abramovich (and a core of talented if petulant, unlikable players established years ago) But Man Utd and Arsenal are consistent top 4 managers simply because of the way two extremely talented managers "owned" their respective clubs. I've been saying for a long time that both Arsenal and Man Utd will suffer when their respective managers leave and I stand by that Man Utd aren't going to tumble down the table - they do still have a lot of talent on the books. But they will lose games they wouldn't have before Moyes will have pressure like he hasn't experienced before SAF will be around the place and his comments will haunt the new man So, like the Tories with Major they will be relatively successful for a while but they won't be what they were, and trouble behind the scenes will be their undoing or something...
  5. " If you are not one of the top four with huge investment behind you" Not sure I'd say Arsenal have huge investment behind us We have some billionare shareholders to be sure, but investing in the club? Quite the opposite League table of those 4 clubs and their owners in terms of "here have some cash when you want" would look like Chelsea City Man U Arsenal
  6. "I think Jose would have changed Utd beyond all recognition, " I have to disagree with that. I think he would try to change things but a couple of years of board v manager hassles would see him move on anyway without changing too much In many ways, succeding SAF is a No Lose situation for everyone - nobody is really expected to maintain his levels of success, so if the person succeeds, happy days. If he doesn't succeed , then some time will have passed and the next manager gets to start with a cleaner sheet of paper
  7. good post @ THEHERNE and good luck to ye. I'm a fan of your other pubs and hope you do well at this one
  8. Good article about why moyes over Jose here http://bit.ly/13DKj2F
  9. "not saying he isnt a great manager or slagging the job he did, but the timing and appintment was almost perfectly positioned- either luck or planning, I dunno." crikey woody, that's a bit harsh on the guy. He has wound me up many times over the years but you could take the exact same circumstances and put ANYONE else in at that exact same time and there isn't a hope in hell they would have achieved what SAF has.
  10. "When will we stop calling them phones ?" around the same time we stop cling on a floppy disk icon to Save something As if anyone under 20 knows what the hell a floppy disk is
  11. no no no - JM will not be at Man Utd next season. (#hostagetofortune)
  12. Arsenal sign a new ?30 million per season deal with Puma... SAF retires... interesting times ahead
  13. Assuming basic stuff like emails are being SENT to the address (you?ve tried sending stuff from another address to be 100% sure?).. 1) Do you access the inbox through any other device, such as a smartphone? 2) Has your hosting company changed their email settings recently ? have a look at their FAQs on their website and compare against yours
  14. Having a look at the Parish Pump on google streetview doesn't improve things either.. http://goo.gl/maps/3BQpD
  15. I don?t think they ?own? the Begging Bowl but provided some funding to the owners ? which is what I think they are trying to expand on now? Anyone know who the new owners are? Pubco? Free House? Leaving aside the kids thing for a moment, I think the pub has some problems anyway. It?s cold ? in the winter I never liked going there The food ? never tried to be Palmerston level (correctly IMO) but still fell far short of what it should have been. The layout ? no corner of the place feels ?right? The location ? most people need a reason to GO there, being off the beaten track relatively speaking Would I be bold enough to remove the bar from the middle and refub completely? I?d suggest it should be an option
  16. First of all, as with Woolworths let?s not get too parochial about this Smith?s closing down. WH Smiths have been closing shops at a rate of knots all around the country. It has relatively little to do with Peckham now versus some Golden Age. In fact most of those shops mentioned on the ?so sad to think of? posts have been companies which have disappeared completely, not just from Peckham But Smith?s aren?t gone yet (sadly) across the country. I say sadly as I used to be a regular customer but since they changed their shops to - make the floor stands much higher to pile ?em high - stopped selling DVDs and Games - pester me every time to buy some freaking chocolate or a newspaper I don?t want - charge 100% more than some places just for a pack of Extra gum They can?t die off soon enough (from a brand perspective ? the usual job considerations still apply)
  17. yep different rules back then - less family friendly, as you say, so one could expect the type of customer who is happy with the recent news to be more plentiful 10 years ago, no?
  18. Or we could just rewind 10 years to before the pub was taken over and count how many punters were kicking about in there/out in the garden spoiler alert: not enough to keep the pub in business. I think it got taken over
  19. it was a mission where you meet Lance in a multi-storey car park, drive uptown and then have to go up some steps and watch a deal go down before taking people out My main problem with it was the PS2 controller was way too twitchy to be tragetting specific people from distance. It's fairly early in the game too, so that at the remote controlled chopper mission killed the game for me. Maybe I should try it again now it's possible to play on other platforms Have you seen the trailers released for GTA V last week? If they combine lessons learned from teh great work on Red Dead Redemption, it could be something special. Something about cruising around in sunny parts of America that appeal much more than a claustrophobic NY
  20. I'm off to see what other threads I can ressurect.. Welcome back Honna-superior
  21. Anyone going to the hoople gig in November on the vain hope of catching Honna?
  22. Vice city has just the best soundtrack ever. If you check out rockstar's website they have spotify links for all the radio stations But one mission relatively early on crucified me
  23. Prejudiced against what exactly? What am I missing?
  24. Quids. You have been seriously debating on this thread? And I'm avoiding it? You stop spouting buzzwords and putting words in people's mouths and maybe you'll have ground to stand on
  25. Wait what? You've played dark souls pibe?
