  1. Odd post klaxon
  2. And why exactly would that be uncle glen?
  3. Wow you really managed to crowbar all the usual words in there didn't you quids? To what purpose? I think you are right about people feeling disconnected from politicians but as ever they are welcome to step up to the plate. Vessels for protest votes are plentiful and people are encouraged to use them But ukip are a different order entirely and although I note you say people are wrong to vote for them you allow way too much leeway. Honesty an hardworking as traits aren't especially useful in preventing thugs take power If you said you know good people who voted or them instead of you think, it might be more meaningful
  4. I won't dignify it as a "protest vote" The message boards and phone ins are awash with deranged sociopaths
  5. What's your take SL ?
  6. oh how people dream of getting served "in a minute" at the Dog these days....
  7. Any business is surely interested in its customers not being happy? Pre selling seats is all well and good but if the punters ain't showing up you have a problem. Keeping those empty seat prices high isn't going to solve it
  8. F'rinstance http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/revealed-manchester-uniteds-old-trafford-2592078
  9. I'm correcting you loz Have a look at most games (incl top 6 but especially further down) and you will see, even in important games, plenty of empty seats where once you had to pay treble This suggests a lot of well moneyed fair weather fans which is no basis for a sustainable future in the game. As already mentioned, Germany are leading the way with both performance on the pitch and fairness for fans. Just because something is popular shouldn't mean it's excluding people on average wages

    Great Gigs

I think titch has hacked my account (or the pre-parental account anyway)
  11. I have been both a private landlord and a private tenant, and am currently renting longterm (5 years this year) through an agency and on balance, I would go with private landlord every time You should be able to judge from initial viewing how a landlord feels about the property and any prospective tenants, but yes bad landlords do exist, as do bad tenants. But for sheer "couldn't give a flying..." it's hard to beat a standard agency ( I hear very good things about specialist agencies to be fair - DaisyLets in particular) But your average agency has a large book and your problem with washing machine is waaay down their list, they will sub contract to an expensive jobsworth and charge back to the landlord at a premium. And every renewal you will have to pay be another fee for the privilege of your shiny new rent increase A private landlord should be able to give you a feel for how long-term they intend to let the property - even though 1-2 year contracts are almost standard, they often informally advise not to worry as there is no intention of changing the arrangement
  12. are you confusing google and apple maps ted? I've had al lmanner of problems with apple maps but google maps has always been pretty spot on
  13. "Hannah barry is a rubbish artist, has a v strange huge influence wiv southwark council, and runs that pretentious bar on top of the car park" Even by UncleBen's normal obnoxious standards, he has surpassed himself here
  14. Annette blowing the whole suspense of her appearance on the sausage sandwich game on 5 live there
  15. *bob* has done a splendid job of expressing my thoughts on diets People treating food (carbs, meat) as the enemy when it's both sustenance and joy. It's not the food it's what we do when we aren't eating that's the problem
  16. Hell no! I was just teasing sue a little bit after an earlier post where she said the diet didn't affect her moods. It was meant to be light hearted
  17. Ach, I was teasing, V
  18. Days of not eating on diet = defensive and scrappy Back to eating days on diet = ooh I don't know what came over me!
  19. they upped Heineken form around 4% to 5% a few years back, so you do get a fuller mouthful these days - ie it's not piss But it is genero-lager
  20. I draw the line at Blue Moon - goddawful stuff The cost of something like Sierra Nevada doesn?t help either (?5.50 ish in places like EDT) Stormbird in Camberwell (nee Funky Munky) does a good range of draft beers. Draft House LL has a smaller range than their Tower Bridge one but is also worth seeing what?s on
  21. 'bout now - was just teasing a little bit, given what happened in the street food thread (although I will say that back then my exclusively working-class world drank nothing but that stuff + Guinness)
  22. "Bossman has quietly turned into one of the best local shops we have. " Spot on They have stopped selling tins of any sort and focussed on interesting bottles If you buy a large enough amount and live within certain area they seem willing to drop it off as well ? not an official service but shows the value of developing a relationship with a local business
  23. "It needs somewhere to buy ordinary kids basics. Socks. A vest. Cheapply. Decent pizza." Sainsurys for the basics? Gowlett, Il Mirto for decent pizza?
  24. Uh oh ? some is dissing the working class beverages of the 70s and 80. Let?s hope Someone doesn?t see that Has anyone noticed the small Beer House franchises opening in London mainline stations? Obviously they are an attempt by a gloval catering corporation to have some of that craft beer market so they get it a bit wrong (foreign = ?craft? ? Amstel???) and it?s pretty transparent. Plus they ignore ales in favour of what they deem craft beers But all that said ? compared to average railway station ?pubs? you get some interesting drinks (Brooklyn on draft) , slightly better (darker lit) ambience and no kids allowed. So missing a train isn?t quite as bad an experience
  25. Bossman may be the single thing that shifts me away from lifelong lager drinking I'm only on the pale ale type stuff but I know the line has been crossed
