  1. mashcov - you appear to have missed the many threads on here over the years about strangers in parks, taking photographs, attempted abductions etc For you to say people are staying silent is bizaare. As for this case, teh guy was caught - what else is there to say?
  2. If we leave aside that we aren't ever going to get crisp, thin, authentic pizzas in a domestic oven there are some very good alternatives to delivery pizzas I promise you this is as easy as it gets and is pretty darn good - if you stretch out the dough in the pan a little thinner you should end up with something much closer to thin crust than deep pan as well http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/01/foolproof-pan-pizza-recipe.html toppings entirely up to you obv...
  3. "Personally I think the fact that the EDF doesn't rabidly obsess over these sorts of crimes to be in its favour." or didn't used to at any rate so much these days it's like the most depressing issue of South London Press ever printed
  4. I thought the Catholic Church fella was hitting on other male priests?
  5. telegraph rather pleased with the album today http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/cdreviews/9888192/David-Bowie-The-Next-Day-album-review.html

  7. "I use two big panniers and my rack to carry a hefty load " lawks!
  8. Original poster = OP this and many more arcane forum tics will become second nature if you hang around Andrew ;-) If some of us haven't put you off if course
  9. wider discussion around stores generally here: http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/sainsburys-car-park-stolen-bike.71386/
  10. "Secondly, this thread was started with a post that had no mention of awareness " My mistake - the subject itself was (rather Hammer Horror style) "Cyclists BEWARE" But I maintain that the self-security aspect is the important bit, not the location of the car park
  11. Mr Rude here My comments were borne out of the fact that an already existing thread about thefts from Sainsbury's was not 2 inches away from the one that Andrew started himself. That other thread has multiple instances of problems in that car partk and is a useful awareness thread. Starting new threads just dilutes the message, and clutters up the forum Secondly, this thread was started with a post that had no mention of awareness but was all about "what am I supposed to now? ME?? Why won't Sainsury's fix the world??" I paraphrase obviously. I have (believe it or not) every sympathy with anyone (Andrew included) who has their bike (or car/phone/whatever) stolen I also undertsand venting can help I just don't understand why people think Sainsbury's should be doing anything about this. People use spaces like they use locker-spaces - at their own risk. Moving security guards/desks and installing a few more CCTV cameras is security theatre and not much else If you park in the car park there, be as cautious as you would parking anywhere else - that's it really
  12. " Sainsbury's were less than helpful " - why should they be? If you have your bike nicked from outside a shop on LL do you expect them to do anything? The council? Who? "Anyone recommend where to take this" - where do you want to take it? You were robbed. Could happen anywhere. It's galling and upsetting but apart from your insurance that's it really. "Sainsbury's don't give a toss about their cycling customers." - again, why should they? Do you honestly think when you park up in a supermarket car park you have entered some special crime-free zone? Sainsury's exist to sell you things - if they sell you something dodgy then you can complain about them. The car park is an add-on perk you use at your own risk But hey, you won't be the first to start your own special thread about you and Sainsbury's and you won't be the last
  13. x 4 of previous rates? That's got to be a major stumbling block. Hopefully someone can point in direction of a cheaper supplier and if there is a smaller shortfall then maybe some of us locals will chip in. Do keep us posted tho (technically, this would normally go in the Wanted section - but given the popularity of the annual fair I'd support it staying in this main section)
  14. sorry about linky - work blocks youtube so I'm reliant on blind google searches google "youtube black books jehovas" and you should get to where I mean
  15. "Good idea but possibly a bit late to organise now ...." depends on how much money surely? I can't imagine the shotfall between cost and funds is so great a few local businesses couldn't cobble something together - but without even a ballpark figure people aren't going to just volunteer
  16. I'm reminded of this http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=youtube+black+books++jehovah&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CDMQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dv6TeDM-wlZ4&ei=-bMkUeCZFPTJ0AW03ICYDw&usg=AFQjCNE7xtNOo_doF9AV4XZZ-eTnODmDHg&bvm=bv.42661473,d.d2k
  17. Sue - what is the sort of increase you are looking at? has the cost doubled or something, or is it just that the festival have less to spend this year?
  18. other, less-ugly, police stations exists tho, don't they?
  19. there is relatively little distinctive looking buildings in the area so "worst" is pretty subjective Those flats are pretty dull but no more so than most modern builds everywhere. And certainly no worse than the Police Station. Or the iceland building (nothing to do with the shop brand!) people hate foxtons, but the identikit redbrick, flat building there before them was even worse
  20. Lest we forget the glory of Oriwu Spot http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,76368,88866#msg-88866
  21. bless, AM - wasn't directed at you! But I have noticed it happens quite a lot. It's not people who post a question and then don't have time to check back in - thats' fair enough But you see some people posting same question in other areas, or just posting generally, ignoring any help they have got and i just think "nice..."
  22. Bugs me when people post helpful advice to a question (as per H's post above) and don't get a response.
  23. Which OS are you running MM?
  24. here it is - no updates in quite a while tho http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,865083,865738#msg-865738
  25. I dunno - a human "minder" and supply of food vs daily struggle against environment/people? sounds like that rat knew what it was doing
