  1. Otta is dan in deadwood.
  2. That would be an ecumenical matter quids
  3. neither in top 100 - score!
  4. This one really does set me off - not in a "I wish people would stop saying that!" way but in a have-to-be-careful-not-to-stick-this-pencil way peolpe who say "enjoy" at the end of something - someone advising a restaurant (in this case) or waiters saying "enjoy" having served the food it really really does bring the red mist on
  5. David Simon (he of Wire) wrote a terrific piece about meeting him 20 years ago http://davidsimon.com/robin-williams-a-brief-encounter/
  6. "I also think it's pretty grim the whole 'I am entitled to a child' mentality that fuels the growth in surrogacy and the commodification of children. " Not as grim as reaching a point in life where the desire to be a parent kicks in and you realise you can't conceive Saying it's an "entitled to a child" thing is pretty damn harsh - anything else medicine does where people are being "entitled" Do people with stomach cancer feel "entitled" to treatment? Advances in medicine, eh? Such a bind... There is a debate about population numbers, commodification, entitlement to be had - but I suspect it would need a little more tact and diplomacy to get going....
  7. Flying Pig sells them too but obviously at bar prices, not bottle shop
  8. are they selling Thornbridge beers ? That's my goto these days...
  9. Definitely Especially pleasing, as you say, to wipe the smirk off Nasri's face He was being honest, and that's admirable but equally, tact is an admirable trait too
  10. I wouldn't get too carried away as an Arsenal fan about the result. It was fun, and it's better than losing it, and it keeps the optimism at the club going But it is what it is - a meaningless tie, made worse these days by major teams spending summer on far flung tours and not being "ready" I take PD's point about if we lost we woulld have been criticised after money spent, but we could brush that criticism off easily. The real games start next week Now, having said all that - the fixture still gives me a tingle every year. It's like the lights going down and hearing the intro tape at the start of a gig - "here we go...."
  11. LadyD, yes "all the pieces matter" but it looks as if you are more interested in picking fights with people on this thread rather than allowing for the fact that these kids (and now parents) might be out of order Sometimes, people just want to take their kid to the play park and not have to confront gobshites I'm aware of the impact that alcohol has across all social groups in this country and how it's promotion encourages liver diease and blah blah blah - sometimes I just want to go for a pint You have simply taken an oppositionist stance on this thread
  12. I know jez. This is the man who have me a hard time for daring to want a sausage that wasn't made of toe nails
  13. Have to say, when I read this I thought it might be a specific forumite http://twitter.com/AmznMovieRevws/status/497069824309460993/photo/1
  14. nope - I think you have it Alan. Bad recollection/writing on my part
  15. tickets left in machine - definitely not a Dulwich thing - I've come across it at any London station I've bought tickets from Buses - the highway code advises you let buses out even if they don't have right of way. So why would you be a dick and not let them out?
  16. Foresters definitely did food
  17. Given that itv have a dozen extra channels it would seem to be deliberate rather than oversight Bad bad decision either way
  18. Without in any way wishing to put darling down, every argument against independence could be presented to any other country, in history which strove for independence at some point, couldn't it? It all boils down to "it's risky, what's plan b, and you the leader, are a bit shifty" Which might all be true but so what? Many Irish voted against independence for similar reasons a hundred odd years ago but not many Irish would rekindle that particular relationship
  19. I suspect the reason the castle survives is as much to do with a beneficial lease as anything else
  20. plenty of gaming doesn't fall into that category Jeremy
  21. A part of me does think that "if 8 men can't be drunks in a pub and use a loo that smells of piss, then where can they....." on the other hand...
  22. professor in hispanomicks
  23. some Paddy just stole it from under everyone's noses...
