  1. but woody, Vince Cable just announced that he was calling off the sale - no-one was buying. They even looked at retrospectively upping the interest rates on existing loans as a sweetner. Still no takers
  2. agreed Mick read a good point yesterday about why we don't see leaders as much these days - back in the days of Carling, Tony Adams etc, your average sportman wasn't living as cosseted a life from such a young age. Leaders evolved these days, if you are talented you are probably cocooned from a very young age
  3. sorry - meant to post link - but I'm guessing anyone interested in the topic will already have read the story http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/10982037/Student-loans-under-threat-say-MPs.html
  4. Spirited never took off either did it?
  5. So, now what for the loan book?
  6. Not sure why you think Saffron is putting words in your mouth Otta - your post reads like "women can wear what the hell they want" but if they wear something you think is a certain way it can be dismissed as "feminism my arse"? if you don't mean that, you can see why people are reading it that way?
  7. I posted a link to a thread where "property news" is extolling the virtues of a rival estate agent Was that libellous?
  8. I dunno http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1355930,1361930#msg-1361930
  9. would love to know which office that "property news" was sent from
  10. top post Alan
  11. back room in Joiners Arms in Camberwell
  12. Otta. I think it was ten years ago around st. Anger El pibe. loud quiet loud? I liked that quite a lot. They are seemingly inherently dull people I would agree. But the dynamics and backstory? I'm all over that
  13. Chicken pox = time + whatever soothes the little one Everything else is largely costly placebo
  14. "Nothing good ever came from band-produced rockumentary efforts." Nothing INTENTIONALLY good anyway - the Metallica one was gold from start to finish tho' Should be said I also have a genuine soft spot for the Flaming Lips doc - "Fearless Freaks" - not sure that's band-produced
  15. "What a refreshing post from chelbirdSE15 - embracing change rather than harping on about the 'good old days'...." words out of my mouth - I loved reading every word.
  16. The castle. Crystal palace road
  17. When I moved to the area pool tables were exactly what it had in back area. Many a lost afternoon in there
  18. 10 years ago people definitely did - the mix of places, and their proximity to each other coupled with the demographic that moved to the area shortly beforehand made for a lively night out. It sounds odd now, but I definitely met many a person who had come out in Dulwich because of what they had heard/read about the Lane. Met some Mancs who were down in London for a long weekend and had planned a night out on Lordship Lane as one example
  19. All gone quiet in this thread. Wish I could say the same about events
  20. what Jeremy said here's what I wrote about this shower 5 years ago on here http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,347341,355023#msg-355023
  21. Daily show getting to the nub of it (the imbalance part anyway) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqKu5rSTyP8 Then again, Jon Stewart is notoriously anti-Semitic right? * What? He's what? No way! *
  22. I *think* Mick meant that as a slight on SB however...
  23. Good explanation Cedges - cheers
