Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage
StraferJack replied to PinkyB's topic in The Lounge
I remember going to a house where they cooed over the next catalogue - seemed like an unattainable object to me. And that's just the object. Never mind the contents -
Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

Am I imagining a time back in the 80s when Next wasn't seen as crappy, but as almost upmarket? Or was that just Swindon? -

Loz, that's odd thinking Politics generally is pretty male led and driven. Men are mightily represented Why does this bus even suggest she is "entirely focussed" on female constituents
-
Ok. I thought it was in this article http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/02/beyond-pink-bus-why-we-still-need-talk-about-womens-issues But was actually in a tweet from Vicki Young at the BBC Man intrudes on Harman's chat with women to ask why she's not talking to men. http://t.co/F2t2oRGqyT
-
I didn't make it up. I saw a link to an article where some man was accosting harman and (apparently seriously) upset men weren't getting similar treatment. If I find it I will link to it here
-
RPC. How exactly was I patronising a woman? I was advising everyone het up about it, including the men posting on here, to look at the "issue" in perspective and used a recent Tory bus for comparison. Funny to see also that there are idiot men upset about the fact that they haven't got a bus addressing their needs. Truly everyone wants to be offended these days.
-
it's not QUITE as bad as vans telling peolpe to go back home tho is it? I can't say the buses make me do anything other than shrug. People getting het up about it might be better served looking at issues rather than window dressing not aimed at them

I always felt there was more than a hint of Nathan Barley about snorks

Is the Horniman just that bit too far out of scope? -
Somewhere in those posts you are using a word or phrase that's in the forum spam list If you are talking about using a spec I al ist (with no spaces) for example you will see the problem you describe (because there is a drug loved by spammers within)

Not the number. Or even the response. The ensuing dialogue
-
Quids I agree with you basically. I'm not saying someone posting a number on the curry club thread amounts to anything. But on back of it a whole dialogue developed between, as mp points out, non curry club goers Just seems unnecessary. To me at least.

Amazing how a niche, almost irrelevant "game" has become a hot point My take. When you see a reference to 100, 1000, 3200 or whatever just smile indulgently or go green with jealousy and move on But Mike P grand naga is surely correct when he says his carefully curated curry club thread has become infected with niche debate, In-jokes and back biting. One can see how it organically develops but equally it don't belong in some places. In a lounge thread where people are debating.... Merits of cheese on toast? Football matches? A judicious number interjection is amusing In the curry thread when potential newbies are mustering resources to tag along, an outbreak of selective banter is off putting at best.

"Do 'the kidz' see it as 'Dad Radio'?" doubt many of them are even aware of it's existence Don't knock us 40 something (and beyond) dads - we don't have much in this life left

everything tich and quids said Although when I work from home on Fridays I'm partial to a bit of Shaun Keaveney, Radcliffe and Lauren during the day Not that I invent my own middle-aged shout-outs when I'm listening - noooo
-
apparently Steve Lamacq is most listened to station, so dumbing down teh playlist not relaly necessary I would have thought Hard to believe now but there was a time when Radio 1 didn't necessarily mean dumbing down

that was a tongue in cheek response thread to the "Keef is my favourite forumite" thread to be fair...

"I was there that night SJ, did we see each other?" we sure did - even had a pint together out the back in the bowling greens
