  1. Irritating jerk.....lovely term. Who would you like to interact with here? Anyone or no one? I suspect the latter.
  2. Go bloody fishing then!
  3. UDT, I work for a well know professional football club in London and I can only hazard a guess that I may know more about it than you do given my role. Stop being insulting to people who disagree with you for good reasons.
  4. Honest Max.......dat's wot 'appened
  5. The Champions League, the extension of the World Cup to 32 teams, the Europa League on a Thursday, is all due to television. Part of me wishes there was less football on television. Mainly because most of it is crap, but you don't want to miss the exceptional game that comes along once in a while. Football would survive without tele, it just means players would get paid less. There will always be great footballers worth going to see. Would Sky survive without football......I have my doubts.
  6. Is anyone here old enough to have arranged a 21st birthday party for their son/daughter?I will be soon. That is, old enough to have a 21 year old who has a birthday. He's not particularly fussy about this sort of thing but I'd like to surprise him with something for him and his friends. I don't really know who they are apart from his best one who he knows since primary school. There are limitations though, otherwise I'd be hiring a private jet and telling him to take his friends to where ever for the w/end.So, basically, what's cheap but not tacky? Hire of a room above a pub with a DJ for example. What costs might this incur if done locally? As parents we would love to attend (I'm presuming my other half would) but frankly it would be his night and who wants their parents hanging around while they get pissed? So any local area suggestions would be gratefully received.
  7. I trust you watched Ulster last night Mick. That was proper entertainment!
  8. Yeah but if they weren't on TV all around the globe they wouldn't make all the other money they do. I was given a present of a premiership team photo with a personalised message signed by the manager when I left my previous place of employment. It cost ?30 according to the clubs website. If there was no football on TV I'd be living in ignorant bliss and clubs would be a lot poorer.
  9. Dead right UDT. I remember that game which was rearranged to suit TV and one team turned up a day late to find out they had lost 36-0. Their manager was a bit embarressed about losing the 3 points so easily but happy not to have picked up any more injuries apart from his big centre half who picked up a nasty knock on the head when leaving the coach. "We were never really in the game" according to the manager, has got to be the understatement of the year.
  10. I think it's far too early to worry about that particular match. Win or lose Spurs won't be out of it. In the back of my mind though is that United still have to go to all the other top 6 teams apart from Liverpool. That's 4 very loseable games. It could be a City Spurs race near the end of the season.
  11. Ah come on.......it you, isn't it?

Mancini doesn't seem to think so Blue! As for Spurs not having Ade available to play I think is a fault of the loan system. I think loans should only be allowed from the PL to a lower division or abroad. It may discourage clubs from paying overinflated wages to attract players only to ditch them when a better one comes along.

You know with the subject being 'please ignore' everyone is going to read it!

  15. Hughes hasn't a brilliant CV if I remember correctly. Don't see why any 'big' club would take him on without a good record elsewhere. It's a bit of a mystery to me why he left Fulham when it wasn't for another job.
  16. My brother and SIL have some nice rental apartments in Cannes if that appeals. PM me if you'd like their website. Easy to get to via Nice.
  17. How is that an alternative to my post Parkdrive? Who is the 'we' and 'most of us' you are referring to?
  18. I presume City will appeal so it will be interesting to see if he gets off. A bit hypocritical of Mancini though to blame Rooney for getting him sent off given he ran down the touchline waving an imaginary card when City got a penalty against Liverpool.
  19. Kompany didn't touch Nani because Nani avoided the tackle. It might have been a different story had he clattered him.

    Devil Cat

So that's what that helicopter was looking for this morning. Devil Cat Activity.
  21. I believe Fergie's comment regarding Liverpool's wish for peace talks referred to them doing it through the media, nothing else. He said from the outset that this issue was not a Man U Liverpool thing. Unfortunately it will probably become that when really it shouldn't. On another topic, when was the last time you saw police in riot gear inside a ground for a fixture? I've no idea.
  22. I guess it depends what you want to pay for. My OH and son went from Lille to Cannes overnight and shared a compartment. Don't think they particularly enjoyed it. Not the same route I know but fairly similar distance. I like train journeys because of what you can see, not to sleep. I happen to notice on a trip last Summer to an interesting place called Carcassonne in the south of France that you could get a train from there to Barcelona. Might be an interesting alternative, to going all the way by train.
  23. A lot of baggage with that tie. Great for the viewer/fan. Too much football is boring!
  24. The scoreline convinced me.
  25. Perhaps not in Turin though.
