  1. Hi Ruth I too associated Simon with his football team. The loss of someone so close is hard. I hope you don't mind my quoting a part from a favourite book of mine. It's called The Prophet and sometimes I refer to it when looking for some understanding. I hope you like it. On Death Than Almitra spoke, saying, "We would ask now of Death." And he said: You would know the secret of death. But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life? The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light. If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life. For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one. In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond; And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring. Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity. Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour. Is the sheered not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king? Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling? For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun? And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides....? Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.
  2. I believe you can still get about evens on Celtic which strikes me as pretty good. BTW how come an Old Firm game is allowed to kick off so late?
  3. How did you do with the sauce?
  4. Where are the other threads? Should post there too to be fair.
  5. Got this as a christmas pressie at my request. Watched it today. Not sure why I didn't particularly enjoy it.
  6. I'm pretty certain than United have played all the other top 5 teams at home and none away yet. 9600
  7. You deserted him and he won. There must be a moral there Mick!
  8. I thought you ALWAYS backed Kauto.
  9. Ah.......thanks Mick.
  10. Stop messing around Tom and get the turkey on!
  11. That wasn't an attack. It was an attempt to show you, you write shite like the rest of us on occasions.
  12. I'm off to bed but any suggestions as to what to do with them tomorrow will be gratefully received. Happy Christmas.
  13. Ah come on...........you know why. It's always the same.
  14. DJ, you just love to make 'serious' points and then ignore them when they are shown to be incorrect. There is no point in discussing something with someone who chooses to ignore any points that don't fit the bill. I'm out.
  15. They heard about the Curry Club members perhaps?
  16. What did I tell ya!
  17. Does the punishment fit the crime is what I wonder? If he was given say a 4 game ban would LFC have made such a meal of it? I think the FA is right to put their foot down as an example to all those other countries where nothing seems to be done to rid themselves of racism. Evra's history shows how he has been a victim of racism since he was a kid and signed his first pro contract to play in Sicily. He is probably particularly sensitive to remarks about his skin colour. Suarez might be excused for using terminology that is not considered offensive in his country. I think the bottom line is in what context Suarez used the word to Evra? If it was to wind him up then it isn't acceptable. The fact that he supposedly admitted to using 'negrito' suggests he had no idea what the consequences might be or possibly the effect it might have had on Evra. If I went to a middle east country and was caught stealing I'm likely to have my hand chopped off. It may seem harsh but it would stop me from doing it again and others from ever doing it.
  18. Well Mick, to be honest, I've learned everything I know from you.:))
  19. I watched the women's WC and it is inferior. Call me ignorant if you like but it's the truth.
  20. Artful, what exactly is a 'plee'?
  21. Is there any sport which both men and women compete in that women are better at? Probably not, which may explain why men's sports gets more coverage. If I ever watch women's sport it's mostly because there are pretty girls playing. I've noticed that when being encouraged to watch women's football the female pundits will say that we shouldn't compare it to men's football, it's a different sort of game. It's is different only because it not played as well. Women's tennis could capture my attention in the past but nowadays all that grunting puts me right off. As for the women's football game in the US being lucrative and more popular than the men's game there, it isn't. There are currently only 5 teams who play in front of crowds which average 3-5,000. It's loss making and in danger of going out of business.
  22. Not really. I do the free Sky Super Six predictions where you have to get exact results for a point. It's sort of done my head in when I've got the right result but the wrong score. I also have a Fantasy team in the EDF league and that's just having it's worst season in years. My stake in Betfair is down to zero and I'm now living off the scraps of a free skybet. If I'm to predict anything at all it is that Celtic will win the SPL.
  23. I do have to say that 'mothercourage' is a bit of a misnomer. However, you are a bit harsh on yourself. Surely someone thinking of you anytime/anywhere is a form of compliment? I mean, I can't get you out of my head when I'm on the train. I don't know why but will seek help. PS I was on a bus yesterday and didn't think about you at all. I'm not sure what this means but I'll bet you it's important.
  24. Well you can't get much teenier weenier than that can you Nette?
  25. I reckon you need one of these! You'll be saving ?50 as well! PS I making an assumption that none of your family are suffering from teaspoonitis. It's a little known illness and affects 0.0657% of the population, but maybe?
