  1. And you're not allowed in the grown ups section 😊
  2. No. You're in. Lightning won't strike twice. Should that be Luckning? See if you get Mick Mac to enter. He seems to have loads of time at work and it won't take long.
  3. There's a similar Prediction Game for the 6 Nations. If there's enough interest I'll set up a Pool for the EDF. Please let it be known here if you'd like to play. For any newcomers,it's a simple game were you predict match scores and points are accrued for correct results, proximity to the result and doing better than your competitors.
  4. I have replaced a wall switch before, a light fitting and wall sockets. However I'm not particularly comfortable with electricity and always turn the mains off. Do you think that if it was a case of just replacing a faulty switch it requires additional knowledge a sparky would provide? I'm not in a position to call in a tradesman when any old thing doesn't work without considering the cost v ability to do it myself.
  5. Thanks ed_pete. It makes sense that the double gang switch would both be double way. Like you say I now expect the issue to be with the single switch on the 2nd floor. Is it easy to tell the difference between a single and a double way switch if I were to look at it? If it is double way, is wiring it to operate that way or indeed replacing a single way switch with a double, something that's easy to do for an amateur? In other words, is it just how the internal connections of the switch are........connected, or something more involved?
  6. Thanks Fox too. This leads to another question. On the ground floor there is from what I've read, what must be a single gang two way switch. On the 1st floor there is a double gang switch which works two ways with the ground floor switch, but the other switch in the double gang does not work two ways with the single switch on the 2nd floor. Does this mean that the single gang switch on the 2nd floor must not be a two way switch or that either it or one part of the double gang switch isn't working the way it should. Or could it be either case?
  7. It never occured to me it would be called something as sensible as that. Thanks RD.
  8. turn the same light on or off from in my case either floor. I'm showing my complete ignorance here but for years we've had a landing light which won't turn off on one floor if it's not off on the other. I figured if I sorted this out it would improve my quality of life by about 1%. Not to be sneezed at.
  9. Spot, our dog. Been dead 40 years.
  10. That may partially explain the reduction in attendees but I would have thought the main attraction was showing films you might not see in a normal cinema.

Like I said I've seen Narnia pop up too. I'd be interested to know why it happens, if it's not too technical.......

The title shows up as Keef. However once entered into Keef it shows up as Lounge.

Just curious Admin. Quite often if I read the forum on my phone the Lounge will show up as being 'Keef' or indeed 'Narnia'. Names I'm familiar with but haven't a clue why it happens.
  17. ...repointing a not very large area of wall? I was quoted ?420 if the guy had to come back and finish it on a second day and ?340 if he finished it in a day. This includes cost of materials and removal of rubbish (?) plus using some type of expensive waterproofing liquid in the mixture. Unfortunately our property is leasehold and this guy is the freeholders person of choice for anything that needs to be done. I suspect (as with the roof a while back) that he ups the price for their benefit so I end up paying a greater percentage of the actual cost than I'm technically obliged to.

  19. That's as likely to happen as West Ham buying Ballotelli.............oh wait......... http://metro.co.uk/2016/01/18/west-ham-ready-to-move-for-liverpool-flop-mario-balotelli-report-5627868/
  20. I'm Irish and never heard of it. Lent maybe. I once gave up for about 5 years. That's a lot of January's.
  21. Poor quality match. When it's against Liverpool a win is a win.
  22. Liverpool v Man U. I've no idea what to expect. I know what I'd like, a big away win.
  23. What about speedbumps for cyclists?
  24. Do ALD take any tapes or just pre recorded ones?
  25. Tut tut Otta. Last time you actually said you couldn't be bothered yourself (not forgot) but expressed horror that Aqm could drop out. None of my business but you're putting a slightly different slant on it now and using Aqm as an excuse. Whatever her reasons for dropping out there may be more to it than the loss of a few points. I dropped out myself last season and it was nothing to do with points won or lost. Would you drop out if you were in contention? If not then surely this is you taking your ball home as you so described Aqm's actions.
