I suppose the downside of cremation is it will spoil the fun for people who try to trace their family roots. A distant cousin from Australia turned up in Ireland a couple of months ago and tracked down our great x n times grandfather's burial site. There would be none of that if he had been cremated.

Having read a thread about some trees being felled to make more room in a cemetery, I just wondered why people choose one over the other. You?re basically going to rot and unless you believe you will rise on the last day, have you though about the state you might be in. When I was growing up there was no such thing as cremation as far as I know. Given it's an option it seems the best bet all round. Take up less space and one less plot to be forgotten about in time. Any views on this?

Is metal detecting friend a code for something? There is/was someone here who was interested in metal detecting but I can't remember his/her name. But if you are looking for friends then maybe you should say a bit about yourself so people with similar interests and age group might get in contact with you. Don't worry about your spelling. Regardless of the potential for some idiots to disrespect it, the French national team just played here and a great deal of respect was shown. Do the masses really want to express their empathy with what happened in France by singing their anthem? I doubt it. It's in French. A minutes silence maybe.

Does anyone else think that the playing of La Marseillaise before matches tomorrow is a bit too much? They did such a nice job at Wembley (apart from the idiots I previously referred to), I can't help feeling that was enough.
