  1. OK, 13 October it is. Lets try Jaflong Tandoori on East Dulwich Road.
  2. Tuesday? Oops!! That Thursday then, the 13th.
  3. First Dine-In Meal Deal of the new era. Lamb steaks, salad bowl, raspberries and a bottle of Merlot. Saving of 8 quid.
  4. How about 11 October - who else can make that?
  5. Is there general interest? I am happy to organise but it does need people to be willing to come along. The next one could be the first Thursday of October. Who is in?
  6. I went in for the first time this afternoon. It was as I expected, like every other M&S Simply Food I have ever been in. Made a few purchases to show willing. Ref shelves - seemed OK to me, would have had a bumper opening weekend and stocks were low. Now, we can either have regular delivery lorry arrivals and full shelves or less regular delivery lorry arrival and so, un-stocked shelves. The good people of East Dulwich were looking very much like East Berliners immediately after the fall of the Wall. Open mouthed in amazement at the riches of capitalism, pasty faced, home bleached hair and jeans. A few, no doubt will hold on to Ice-stalgia "I miss the frozen triple roasts and Greggs sausage rolls", but progress cannot be stopped and vitamins will enter the diet, like it or no.
  7. Presumably taking on the existing Jaflong site, given Foxy's insider knowledge.
  8. LOL!! So fish and chips must be served by Jewish immigrants? Pizza's by Italians (but, from which part of Italy? Its a conundrum), burgers and hotdogs by Americans (or Germans?)? kebabs by Turks or Greeks (which is truly "authentic"?) Pretentious as in believing/ yearning for the pretense that any food is prepared and eaten in the UK is authentic using the "cooked by people from the country who's food the restaurant is purporting to serve" definition. That the bulk of that food is not authentic but is hugely popular must be wildly annoying. You will need to stay at home and eat baked beans (American)
  9. If you want truly authentic Indian food, you would mostly be eating dhal, rice and nan. There is quite allot of pretentious piffle spouted about "authentic" cuisine.
  10. No. Popular formula, no need to change it. Ganapati are different. Go there.
  11. Hong Hong for me.
  12. French people are immigrants. They are not illegal immigrants. When did the word "immigrant" denote illegality? Other than in the Mail and Mirror.
  13. I went to the Oval yesterday and was a bit surprised when the 185 went via Peckham. However, it occurred to me that would make quite a good permanent route. The LL to Camberwell Green route is well served by the the 40, 176, 185, 484 etc. Having one of these going via Peckham would provide a useful additional option to go through or to Peckham. Peckham is becoming increasingly populous and attractive for a night out.
  14. *Notes the bemused faces of so many newbies* *Sadly dusts the painting of Mrs Dobbin the Lactating Donkey and then the recumbent figure of ????, in deep repose in his favourite Chesterfield. Picks up the copy of Razzle from his lap and returns it to the library* *Peels an unconscious red devil off the non-sliding glass door, straightens his nose and props him on the other end of the Chesterfield*
  15. My fear is that a second machine would only cause more congestion as space is reduced and more people queue for tickets. I have regularly seen the rush hour crowds of KCH staff trying to get into the station, spill out into the road. I suspect only a death will spur any action. Ever noticed the inability of the new construction to cope with heavy rain? Instant flooding. The old station, not so much.

Although "Sunday Buffet" has been included on the Restaurant signage.
  18. Living up this end of ED, having a curry house very locally is welcome. If Jaflong continues to allow BYOB then that should benefit the liquor sales in the Londis and Hop Burns & Black either side. Perhaps also the Fire Ices ice-cream shop if people dont fancy a sorbet in a coconut shell. Good to see some changes on the Lane with the Jaflong site becoming available and the corner site opposite yet to open.
  19. The Gardens Surgery generally gets good feedback. It is where I am registered and have good experiences. Researching other Threads as suggested will be useful in avoiding the less well thought of.
  20. That would be the summer break bit.
  21. OK, summer is upon us (as I peer at the leaden skies) and the Curry Club is going on its summer break. So, this (July) CC meet is cancelled and we will re-convene in September or October.
  22. Anybody else? If not I will call a summer vacation and restart in the Autumn. X
  23. Next Thursday lovely people. Who is in? X
  24. Evening Standard today seemed to say that the Old Kent Road route has been confirmed. It was in the property bit though, so could be a big fat one.
