  1. These are people that draw in millions of viewers and they are in demand. If the Beeb didnt pay them well, they would go to the private sector. Pay less well and all of the BBC output will be presented by Timmy Mallet.
  2. A big thumbs up from me too. Some months ago the Spin Doctor came out to look at my noisy dishwasher, told me that it was dying and would need replacing, but to keep using it until it died, and then to contact him. It took quite a while, but the dishwasher did finally croak and I duly texted Steve, he recommended an Indesit built in machine via AO. In his experience it is reliable, does the job and at a sensible price. I duly purchased and booked Steve for fitting. He turned up early (called me first), plumbed the machine in, refitted the unit door and advised me of use. Clean and efficient at a reasonable cost. There is only one Spin-Doctor.
  3. Amazon and Argus have weeks worth of waiting time for pedestal and desk fans. By luck I discovered that the hardware and general store next door to Morrisons at Camberwell Green has a stock of 16" pedestal fans - marked at 25 quid, being sold at 19.99. Takes 10 minutes to put together and one is cooling my living room beautifully and quietly.
  4. It has expanded year on year but to move it would be a shame and lose the atmosphere. Its a family event, so unsurprisingly, families turn up in their droves and make it a great success. The live music was great, the food was a bit expensive, but it always is at these events. If you want cheap food, bring a packed lunch. Donkeys need a break dont they? That's not unreasonable.
  5. The reviewer has accurately described the current iteration of the East Dulwich Forum. See above..
  6. > > Come on Mr. P. keep up..Xoco is no more.. Gone.. > > Foxy Ah well, I dont live my life in curry houses, contrary to popular belief. That Xoco is gone really is a shame.
  7. I liked Swadesh but when the zero alcohol policy came in, I lost interest. Jaflong does it by welcoming BYOB and that seems to work well. Xoco have an interesting take and very good take on Indian food, it would be good to see more people in there. Interesting to see who takes the Swadesh spot. The active trading area of the Lane has steadily moved southwards with the cinema, ice cream shop, restaurants opening up. Could be a more promising spot than it was a few years ago.
  8. Ganapati is not your average Tandoori. In my opinion the food is well cooked, tasty and a nice change from the norm. Curry Club hasnt been to Ganapati since because its not on the Lane and previous attempts to go further afield havent worked well. In addition some members of Curry Club prefer a more traditional Tandoori, and that is fine. I have been back to Ganapati and have always enjoyed it.
  9. Given that the extension pointedly avoids our neck of the woods, why ask for our views? Why are our Councillors wasting their time on something which is no longer relevant to us? I would be far more interested in what our elected Representatives are going to do to improve fixed track public transport up the Walworth Rd and through Camberwell?
  10. All good. Sorry if you dont come Charlie. Looking forward to meeting you Declan :)
  11. Altima what? :) I think I am booking a table for 8?
  12. Sorry Sue! OK. Lets go firm on Jaflong, East Dulwich Road at 8pm Meet at The Flying Pig at about 7pm for those that would like an eye opener.
  13. It is an option. We can meet at the Flying Pig for sharpener.
  14. Good news. Any preference re Venue?
  15. Happy New Year! First meet of the new year - 9/2/17. Venue?
  16. Mix with creosote and paint it on fencing panels. Worked for my Granddad in the war.
  17. Postponed until the New Year I think. Have a great Christmas everybody! X
  18. As a resident, I too would like to thank Renata for her efforts.
  19. M&S shop, bloody marvellous. Ditto the ED Supermarket and Meatliquor. Xoxo for having a go at something different and doing that well.
  20. I enjoyed it, agree re The American being a bit weak. If anything, too much car stuff and not enough self deprecating cocking about. Knowingly offensive as most stand ups are, nothing shocking, given the presenters. Its Marmite TV. That's free speech for you.
  21. I can do the 9th. Anybody else?
  22. Havent got a date! Has anybody got any ideas, or are December dance cards already full?
  23. You have the whole of the Lounge to play in. Go play there or, grow up.
