  1. Yes. 7 hours work per day seems reasonable if they aren't charging you for breaks. So 1 hour for lunch and 15 minutes mid am and pm would make an 8.5 hour day for them, of which they are charging you for they 7 they are working. Check when they propose to start and finish.
  2. Arent you dead?
  3. Exactly. Mr Barber has form in the regard. I am apolitical and am happy to support local politicians that are doing good work and doing it fairly. The "crime disaster area waiting to happen" is hysterical and rabble-rousing. It winds people up and creates a perceived problem which Mr Barber can then ride in to help "solve" to the adulation of the naive.
  4. Both Locale and the Pig followed the same path - good to begin with and then went downhill. I liked the bar end of the Pig, good beer and the bar staff were nice chatty people, albeit occasionally a bit scatty. Its a difficult space to use well, that back area is cavernous and its easy to lose atmosphere.

Stop being hysterical James. Winding people up so that you can ride in as a knight in shining armour does seem to be your modus operandi. It is tiresome street-politics, not constructive and does nothing for the reputation of politicians. This pub may be disturbing local residents but, not much and it was there long before they were. Why don't you actually support a local business trying to be successful and employ a few more people?
  6. Bit obvious. Only lacked a "Wow!!!" at the beginning
  7. Just booked the table at Curry Cabin. See you all at Franklins bar at 7ish.
  8. I had a coffee in Aneto today, late morning. It was quite busy for a new venture, people having brunch, teas and coffees with their families. All tables at the back were full. Menu looks good, contemporary but with a full English option at ?9.95. The place feels lighter and airier that was previously the case. There are about 6 bar taps and signage that says that there is an evening service, although I didn't see an evening menu. I will miss the Pig, but perhaps this is a better bet for a site that is close to a school, Goose Green, Peckham Rye the children's playground and sees lots of family footfall between all of those.
  9. Apparently owned by the same company, so didnt want to advertise. Coffee and croissant bar now. Huge let down.
  10. How about the 8th? Happy to accommodate the elder lags :)
  11. Many thanks all. Would help if I got the date in the topic line correct!! Sorry if that caused confusion. So, Curry Cabin on Thursday 1 February. I suggest that we meet in Franklins bar at 7ish and eat at 8ish.
  12. All good. Where would we like to go? I suggested Curry Cabin, but others may have alternative view.
  13. Yes and press-ganged nine innocent, naive and innocent Forumites to make similarly positive comments in support of a new ED business. This runs against the normally negative and destructive comments about local enterprises that the Forum holds so dear and as such is to be condemned. Anything else positive and constructive we can p*ss on while we are at it?
  14. I am EE too and no problems to be reported.
  15. OK, will do. Didnt change it at first as no confirmation of interest in 1 February!
  16. So, what about 1 February for the next meeting? Any preferences for a restaurant? How about Curry Cabin?
  17. I enjoyed my food. The menu has changed, after many years, so I suspect there is a new chef in the kitchen. Beyond the Mirash, take-aways seem to be bit of a hit and miss affair.
  18. February CC meet anyone? the first Thursday of February is 1 February - what do we think?
  19. Given that the number of people using Denmark Hill station has doubled in a few years, the income attributable to Denmark Hill station has also doubled. So, no need to put up prices to pay for an additional entrance/ exit to cope with a steep increase in travellers. That anybody is questioning the need for more access points in these circumstances is simply bizarre. ED station doesn't have barriers, just Oyster touchpads, no obvious signs of staff monitoring the entrance/ exit to the right of the bridge and away from the station office. Just get on with it.
  20. That is a shame. I live opposite Jaflong and eat there quite regularly, never had a problem with their food.
  21. Thank you Bubsie. Our Aluminium anniversary, Google informs me.
  22. Eleven people present for the 10th anniversary, a good turn out. Two new attendees were very welcome. Fun evening at the EDT and then at the Mirash. Thanks to all!! XX
