  1. You are in Sparklehorse. That's 4 places left.
  2. So far we have 5 confirmed (Foxy, Li5ecr, CharlieB, Hibbs, me) so if anybody else would like to come, could you confirm? I have had a few PMs from new people and there was interest at the drinks last night. Also - could anybody that wants to come post on this thread please?
  3. If anything Tesco has forced the other shops to up their game. The shop opposite Altima Court became a Londis and was refurbished, others have extended opening hours.
  4. The Nook, Youghal is grand. Mollys Bar in Molyvos on Lesbos is a bar that I will return to over the coming years.
  5. The TV coverage showed an enormous pipe that was going to be used to replace the burst pipe. That size of pipe would pump out a huge amount of water, overwhelming man-made and natural drainage. If you think about the damage that a minor (by comparison) domestic water leak causes, then the damage to property and stock is very large indeed. Stock can be replaced quickly. The basements and rooms that are used to keep the stock will take weeks if not months to dry out, wiring will be sodden and may well need to be replaced. Plaster will need replacing, but only after the walls have dried out, older buildings may have had walls undermined or even foundations washed out. So all in all, a bloody disaster.
  6. Day-walker .... :p
  7. Real Gingers or wannabe Gingers?
  8. Hurrah! I have booked a table for 10 people at 8.30pm. This is the biggest booking that Ganapati can take, so its a max of 10 people. I think that this will be a popular place, so priority will go to those people that have been regulars over the past months. If you could post your interest as soon as possible. Thanks!!
  9. Huh? I was talking about an event at the Bussey Building, not Rye Lane. It matters because if the development of Peckham is to be supported by events such as this, the events should be representative of Peckham. It was a good event that maybe could have been marketed better.
  10. Went to KERB yesterday evening. I couldn't help but notice that the large crowd was remarkably unrepresentative of the local population. The majority of the black people to be seen there were the very friendly security staff (3 of them), otherwise white with a smattering of Asian folk. This statement may rankle some people, BUT it was very, very noticeable.
  11. Thursday 5 September. Meet at 7ish at The Montpelier - http://www.themontpelier.net/ Eat at 8.30 at Ganapati. I have booked a table for 10 people. http://www.ganapatirestaurant.com/
  12. Not their finest hour it has to be said. My food was OK, but that is all. An expensive meal which was mediocre in its quality. I felt OK this morning, as I crawled out of bed at 5am! I have ?20 left over as a whip for next time. Ganapati I think we discussed?
  13. See you soon hopefully HelBel! Mick Mac - only "slightly doubtful"? :)
  14. I have booked a table for 8 and I think we have 8 people who have said that they are coming. If anybody else wants to come, could you let me know so that I can book more places? Ta
  15. Good news Sheila. I have booked a table at Tandoori Nights for 8pm on Thursday. Meet in the Actress at 7.15pm.
  16. Overall the impact of the new station has been negative. The space is about the same The signage is about the same Access is about the same No lifts No coffee shop Ugly What is happening with the old station? Is it to be redeveloped to provide more services, or just left?
  17. Hate Hipsters? They look a little dopey but that isn't sufficient to generate hate. They wont come to ED though, they have a honey pot in Peckham and will not stray far from that.
