Windfall Tax on Utility Comanies - Good Idea / Bad Idea?
snorky replied to Marmora Man's topic in The Lounge
blah blah blah I can imagime most of the posters were more than happy the take their few quid profit when the Utilities were Sold off - along with everything else that wasnt nailed down - short memories , but does it not effectively deprive you of a bleat when things get shitty 20 odd years down the line ? -

Im sure someone could come along and fill your role if you really want & produce a verbatim statement of witness. Not that Im advocating anything illegal, but a pissed driver once smacked me up the arse at 35 mph when I was stationary at lights and escaped leaving a bogus phone number. After some detective work, I found them and as if by magic, they submitted a statement saying that I had reversed around a blind conrner at speed and rammed into them, writing off both cars. They backed this up with 3 witnesses.Odd since it was 3AM in New Cross and pretty dead.naughty. Thye didnt get away with it in the end obviously, Snorky made sure of that.

Music on Upland/Dunstans/Crebor ?
snorky replied to wee quinnie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
its the new vibrant edgy ED. its these mouthy one dimensional fashion victims that have pumped up your house values and made your little BTL in ED investment so profitable, as well as providing an easy income for the shops that sell shite on LL and keep the gastro-pubs & vile cocktail bars going double edged sword etc -
There is a rather disagreebale stench to this thread

What do these retailers think they are going to get by hoying some E-Z reading bollocks about their dreams & background in their window ? Does it affect your decision to enter the the shop ? Surely their mission statement should be a standard Mr Krabs-esque " we want your ????" ?

the bastards- how dare they take CAR PARKING spaces away from the Opressed motorist in their unending quest to " provide utility supply improvements for the community" I drove the 200M to LL this AM and it took me 40 minuts of driving around to find a space stealth tax etc

lots & lots of empty desk space at Foxys today - maybe they should sublet ? they should have thought a bit more about the size property they aquired rather than going for in yer face bling & soft drinks- I have never bought a property based on the availability of comfy chairs at the EA offcies- oddly enough, its the property that matters to me. Strange isnt it

A bike shop has a pracical use & I can support that most of the the other shops that have sprung up in the past handful of years sell wasteful expensive tat - if they sell this crap, they should have thick skin enough to handle the comments

Its been mentioned many many times, but the staff or indeed the management of a shop are not usually party to this type of scam and its unfair to blame them- the exceptions do happen and are related to political & criminal groups overseas, but to suggest that a local shop is involved knowingly is a bit bogus Dare I suggest tho' that F*****s have some suspicious looking people hanging around in the office with seemingly no work to do - I put it to you that F*****s is a front for the operation in ED- look at the evidence - has anyone bought or sold through thm ? no Do their nasty little cars ever move from their parked spots around the office ? no..all those PCs in the office must have some use .... I rest my case m'lud

a bit harsh on charlie but bike shops are a bit hit/ miss - a good one that builds up a decent rapport with its customers is invaluable- but the nature of the business is labour intensive for repairs & servicing and things dont often go as would be ideal I usually go to Herne Hill nowadays, after getting such shoddy service in Peckham & Camberwell in recent times I'll give an ED bike shop a go tho

Skag Fiend most likely -
No one deserves a kicking- by the filth or by security guards, irrespective of their supposed offence IME, Security guards have a propensity to thieve better than the average shoplifter, but with a bit more impunity Im torn on the shoplifting issue to be honest - if someone has no other means of surviving, then I dont have a beef, but this isnt usually the case nowadays

Pedestrianise LL 10m - 5PM outlaw dropped kerbs and outher unseemly / petty means to annex as much space as possible put all late night piss establishement outlets on LL on probation- 3 yellow cards for disorder / noise / litter etc and late licence lost for 6 month spanking clean Public toilets on LL inmpose punitive penalties for energy wastage on commercial signeage let on all night

the way the rolling tyre tread catches a prone screw and forces it into the rubber is the blame - it does look very suspicious, but its perfectly normal in most cases - blame the building work that ED seems to be gripped by at the minute a sidewall puncture is more likely to be vaddalism,as it very easy & quick to do a sidewall & its utterly irrepairable, wheareas other tread damage can often be sorted by the likes of Kwikfit fo a nomianal sum - Minis tho, with their run flat tyres are particularly expensive to sort and are harder to / impossible to repair & cost about ?150 a corner. Not cheap
-
Im sure he is a pr1ck - there are many of them about who are well reactionary about their property and manor in ED - hes got little sense if he made the threat in public

Oddly enough, initial formal & civilised contact with the EA about their cars clogging the streets has produced a an answer on most occasions, the shorthand of which is " f*ck off " Sometimes people have little recourse than to go for the underhand option to show their feelings. Its not cricket I know, but It is completely understandable given the arrogant nature of theses businesses
