I had Astra yesterday morning. Bit shivery and achy in evening. Temperature over night and v congested and blocked up today.
-
In Edinburgh they Don?t look bad. They are large municipal ones, black, discreet and pedal operated .between parked cars. At the top of lordship lane private bins block the pavement in places, specially in houses containing several flats and with not enough front space.

I wonder if Southwark has ever considered implementing the Edinburgh system of bins. They have no bins allocated to individual homes but instead several very large communal ones dispersed intermittently in the street, or at the end of streets. this frees up people?s front gardens/spaces so they don?t have the hideous collection of blue, brown and green plastic crowding the front of homes and spilling onto pavements.. Easier for bin men to access. One for recycle, one for household. Positioned in non parking spaces so no more pressure on parking spaces,

Now today they haven?t emptied our small brown food waste bin. The top was not completely closed. If this is the reason it is getting ridiculous. Obviously while at home we are all consuming more. We don?t even have any public bins anymore like we had in peckham rye car park to deal with extras.

These meal kits ?boxes? are a huge fad in New Zealand. I?d never come across them before but when I was there I met lots of people using them several times a week, especially if they had guests. It reminded me of the seventies when the ready meal was pushed by tv advertisers as the height of culinary sophistication though in this case the client has much more input.

O you got there first! It looks almost like an outside tap has been turned on,

I gave them a box of celebrations t Christmas too...or maybe it was the green bin men! This was recycling bins blue overlooked today,
-
It?s a pandemic, they were delayed by four days, we are at home so creating more waste and now if we don?t go to the recycling centre, we will be in catch up for weeks. The xtra was packed neatly by us and left on pavement for ease.

Today at last the bin men came but left anything not in the bin. We had a box of bottles and they left them. How mean is that.

ive just had this reply- The school is now closed. Any queries will be answered when the office re-opens on Monday 4 January 2021. Wishing you a Happy Christmas. SJSC Admin Team so we now have this light pollution hell till January. Does anyone know of a caretakers number? -
Presuming the school is now closed for the holidays- Ive emailed and also left phone message- but their playground floodlight has been left on. This pollutes the sky, wastes money and floods our bedroom with Alcatraz type light. I was looking to find the Jupiter Saturn conjunction in the sky. Not a chance. The whole bit of sky out of my window is buried in a glare of light. If anyone knows how to contact them in holiday time, please let me know.

Like the Wise Men I shall 'go home another way' sadly avoiding the lovely flower shop and other places where possibly we might bestow our riches -
HELP, what are the rules about driving through Dul' Village

We try and walk everywhere but its an hour's walk from my house to Dulwich Woods at the College Road access according to Google Maps, with an old Labrador to enjoy a one hour interesting wooded walk, then back, taking the walk to a three hour walk. Possibly I could get him on the 37 bus and then something that goes through Dulwich village? -
HELP, what are the rules about driving through Dul' Village
Huggers replied to peckhamside's topic in Roads & Transport
Just driven back from Dulwich woods with ancient dog and only because of this thread I looked out for the new signs. The first one at junction of South circular and College Road going North has too much text for any driver to read and comprehend safely while driving. They would have already made the decision to cross into Dulwich Village before realizing and being thumped with a fine. Further signs are pretty small. I had no idea of these changes until reading about it here and have been blithely driving to the woods, luckily on a Sunday, oblivious to these understated signs. -
Two weeks ago, our dog had a strange graze and missing fur on his neck and took him to vet who gave antibiotics. Next day went into garden and found prostrate dead rat at back so I think dog killed it and got a retaliating scratch. He's better now. The dog.

Council parks to charge ?2ph parking fee from 1 April
Huggers replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If I want to walk my dog in Dulwich Park I would have to drive. It's too far to walk, I cant take an old labrador on a bicycle and it would take two buses, the 37 to the village way junction and then something else I am not sure exists- and that's if my dog would be allowed on the bus. I think the knock on effect of a lot of the new restrictions is that people will stay more local - if you are staying more local you'll use local shops. Be very interested to hear feedback from Dulwich village shops - are they losing random drive through trade if it's such a hassle ? Will Nunhead shops lose trade if they are cut off from East Dulwich? won't people just pop out to East Dulwich instead? -

I've dug up this thread to say that I've noticed on my weekday morning walks between 9.30-11am the now pay to park car park in Peckham Rye is now completely empty of cars and is often used for exercise classes instead.
