  1. Wonderful news and a beautiful puss...
  2. I live near two schools and so many parents park anywhere they like including double yellow lines and even the zigzag lines. They also have their engine idling. Surely road closures just push the problem along.
  3. I was expecting an Amazon delivery a while ago and, in fact, got an email informing me that I had not only received it but had signed for it. I contacted them to say neither had happened so they sent a replacement straight away. I got the original parcel the next day: the driver said he?d got behind with his deliveries the previous day so pretended to have delivered more parcels than he had. Amazon let me keep the replacement free of charge!
  4. Mrwb, I don?t think the CPZ wouldn?t apply to Saturdays.
  5. My son lives near the Peckham sorting office and I was once in his house when the postman delivered a ?I missed you? card. I ran straight out and called him back. He said he didn?t have the actual parcel and this was a card telling my son to go and collect it!
  6. Amazon does have odd ideas of ?safe places.? My porch is often considered to be a safe place! I hope Amazon send a replacement and that you are home when it comes.
  7. People who contact the council about the parking will complain about it but nobody is going to contact them to say things are fine. James,if you had ever knocked on my door, I might have said parking is a problem but I still don?t want a CPZ.
  8. mrwb, where I live we have lost 8 spaces via the extended double yellows and stand to lose at least another three via the ex dropped curb double yellow.
  9. If I?m not expecting anyone I tend to open the window upstairs and call out. I once had a duster seller and told him he was the third one that week. He shouted to his mate that I was an f....g stuck up b...h.
  10. James, 100 requests over three years is not enough to implement such a drastic scheme. Have you checked that these are 100 different households and that they still live in the area? There is a real problem with parking in my road but none of my neighbours want a CPZ. If we all complained about the cost of our council tax, it would not lead to a reduction.
  11. I hope so. Stalker, please let us know...
  12. When I told Joanna, the woman in charge of this , that the extra long double yellow lines had already taken out 8 spaces where I live, then replacing the white lines with more double extended yellow lines, she very patronisingly told mehat ?I would find this would increase parking space by 40%! I told her that was totally ridiculous but she insisted she?s right! She probably goes to work on a unicorn.
  13. I didn?t get one this January either.. 😔
  14. The extra 5 officers are just for 12 days during February. I wonder if the powers that be have remembered that half term is during that month. The Dulwich college boys appearto be the main target.
  15. There has been a spate of school children mugging s this term. This was raised with the Met borough commander at the DCC meeting last night. There will be more foot patrol and extra officers during February. The police said that, Iva child is mugged, they should speak to the nearest adult or go to a shop. Then call 999.
  16. An electric car charge point was installed yesterday right in the middle of what would become a long double yellow line if this madness goes ahead!
  17. I noticed that as the CPZ ?discussion? was coming to an end and someone asked about the hours of operation, Joanna quietly said that these had not been agreed and that they would consider 24 hours 7 days a week as a possibility. As far as I understand, 98 people over 3 years have asked for this. The door knocking comment about parking being the main thing people complained about puzzled me. Not one of our current local councillors has ever knocked on my door. Do they ask the question? Yes, parking where I live can be difficult but no, I still don?t want a CPZ. I don?t want LLto return to what it was 25 years ago. I also thought the chairman?s comment about Brexit was totally out of place.
  18. Eileen, at the drop in session last Saturday, Joanna told me that extending the double yellow lines as they have and turning the white lines at dropped curbs into extra long double yellow lines would increase parking in the CPZ by 40%.
  19. I was at the DCC meeting this evening and found the CPZ part of it very frustrating. The councillors kept going on about how many people complain about parking when they go knocking on doors. Apart from James Barber, I have never had a councillor knock on my door, not even before local elections. The woman doing the presentation didn?t really have necessary facts at her finger tips.
  20. TaVa, the two hour CPZ won?t keep commuters at bay. All they have to do is phone to pay for the two hours from wherever they are. It would only work if they had to pay at a machine.
  21. Can you imagine the chaos if some streets have a CPZ and others don?t?
  22. I?m guessing that people who drive up from Kent etc can start parking outside the CPZ which will annoy the residents there but is within walking/bus ride distance of the zone. I am against the zone particularly as my road has lost a lot of spaces through the extended double yellow lines and will lose another 3 at least over the dropped kerb changes. However, as I look out of my window I can see several cars taking up a space and a half. If those had been better parked, there would be far less pressure for parking. Drivers need to park more thoughtfully.
  23. James Barber would have been fighting against this. I am appalled by the lack of involvement by our councillors.
