  1. PS Forgot, but I think the New Charter school in East Dulwich will be well established by the the time your kids get to secondary whereas it's currently offsite
  2. 40s suddenly announcing change of destination and finishing at Goose Green roundabout - annoying distance home for an unscheduled walk, too near to wait for another bus
  3. Live near - no letter - support
  4. You don't bring up budget so I am assuming it doesn't matter much? Herne Hill is posher and more expensive and not as lively as East Dulwich or Peckham (although liveliness has improved recently and of course it's nearer Brixton - but I'm not keen on Brixton anymore being above 30 and Peckham's hipper anyway :)). Though If you want Charter then you're basically ruling out East Dulwich - which actually ticks most of your boxes and is better value and strong community - and a short hop up to Forest Hill for the Ginger Line to connect to Jubilee. But we'll all tend to stick up for where we live I guess.
  5. The politics as always is horrible (at the edges mainly but the edges are bigger nowadays) a whole bunch of "we told you so" (with some relish too) on the right and a whole bunch of apologists or anti-racists platitudes on the left. It's like paint by numbers on Social Media - the same old crap after every outrage...Twitter's a depressing place for proper middle of the road people after these events

  14. - Arsenal win Premiership - City win CL - Le Pen wins in France - Things won't be as bad as the bubble thinks - Duke of E buys the farm
  15. Of course given we were (are) a net-contributor to the EU, then we were getting just some of our money back to be spent on what 'bureaucrats' in the EU decided needed spending on rather than us closer to home :)

  19. Why anyone ever leaves their house, other than to go to work or visit the doctor/dentist, in this day and age is beyond me to be frank....
  20. There are also some rose tinted views about LA renting back in the day too - there may have been more housing at cheaper rents but anyone who actually lived in inner London council housing in the 80s and 70s will remember how long you had to wait to get anything fixed, the horrendous bureaucracy around anything and the general state of the infrastructure....... but some how statism and big business are GOOD landlords but small private landlords EVIL - crappy lefty politics of envy as per.

    Italia!

PS I knew Italy was pretty sclerotic, but I read in the paper this weekend that since the advent of the Euro (1999) Italy's economy hasn't grown , France's has by 20%, Germany's 21% and the UK's by 33%. Thank god we never joined that particular 'project'* If only El Pibe and Hugenot were still here I'd resurrect the old Euro thread from way back :) *blows grateful kiss to Gordon and Ed B
