  1. *Bob* I have paid my 2 legitimate parking tickets without a quibble (both were just a few minutes over but rules is rules)...20+ years driving in London....but it doesn't even vaguely work on any degree of commonsense/pargmmatism now..and, if we have expanded restrictions in SE22 you mark my words this Forum will be full of this sort of rant...it may well need it's own section
  2. I've found the 'naughty step' ineffective and am increasingly resorting to the 'naughty padlocked dark cupboard under the stairs'...
  3. I'd check that your back is defenitely OK before dismissing compensation claims
  4. No but I've some nice scooter wingmirrors - that I've kept quiet until the fuss died down that are now availbe on the cheap
  5. What are you going to do after the next election when you get bunged out TJMP?
  6. I'm going to come along and introduce myself as some obscure once in a while poster and behave impeccably
  7. Mockney _ I actually read the Spanish Civil War book review...is the reviewer himself the "marxist/lennininst/troskyite" of Private Eye fame? As it certainly was an excellent stereotypical, meandering communist rant. The Daily mash is always worth a visit however
  8. Given that his biggest fixed cost is likely to be his lease/rent, then I'd wait a while as I think he'll get a better deal in a few months time when the boards start going up...
  9. I care Mockney

  11. At least you didn't point out my crap punctuation and failre to use an apostrophe
  12. I think your all being spectacularly naive(sp?) once again - Taking books off Joe Public = being a charity and not a subsidised council service and could well result in Mr or Ms councillor reducing funds/budget. Library is being politically smart. Does nearly everyone else on this forum live in a Camberwick Green share & share world of make and do/no political intrigue see you at the bandstand at 4pm world? (ok, that was Trumpton).
  13. Spadetown - it's not just snobbery. The food at Harvesters is not cheap by any means and the quality is pretty poor
  14. So, because they can't charge them for parking outside on the road (which they're going to do for the rest of us) they're planning this to close that loophole...still, pay for their second flat in Kensington and little 9 year old Johhnies ?30K a year salary and fact finding beanos to Venezuela etc etc Guy Fawkes where are you now that we really need you?

  16. Er, some of us don't see a problem Sean(MaC!)
  17. ok on the location front - The Three compasses - mSomwhere Worth Maltravers??? Dorset, Crisps and pork scratchings only but fabulous beer through a hatch In the 1980s The Old Sun on Long Acre - mad landlady who only drank champagne knew everyone and her daughter fancied my mate so we used to get lock-ins in covent garden (now a corporate hell hole so don't bother) Local(ish) The Hermit's Cave, accidentally the coolest pub in Camberwell and always has been, Brendan still the Guvnor since god knows when, locals who have drank their for years (mainly alcoholic admittedly) but nice to see them in there week in week out year in year out. Plus the trendiest Art School lot who find the Funky far too cheesey......proper safe boozer...ang, until recently, George the Pot man
  18. Although the idea is a good one pubs are modal...so it depends what your mood you're in, who your with or what you're looking for
  19. If I don't shave for 3 months I look like an old patchy blanket
  20. In all honesty did it progress beyond designer stubble?
  21. er Sean, you don't half think in black and white fella, i drove my car for the first time today in probably a month I get the bus into work daily, do you think that motorists are a seperate breed of people who never venture onto public transport and spend their whole time clogging up London deliberately? Once more I see you are putting yourself up as the best to comment on an issue because 'you gave up your car'...bully for you, you got kids or a mum who lives in the country you want to go and see most weekends? i have no problem with controlled traffic including parking restrictions, I have a massive problem with the council sticking bays in my street which apart from occasionally on a Saturday has no real parking problems, then charging me ?X for a permit for parking outside my house, which I pay council tax on, on a road, that I pay road tax for, before letting loose their hitlers on visiting friends, or me id my permit slides off the window or my wheels are an inch into another bay....and having the gall to pretend that this has anything to do with managing traffic. IT HASN'T, ITS POLITICIANS TRYING TO RAISE MONEY....
  22. ????

    Hi there

I was seeing myself more as the young Rik Mayall to be honest Piers...although he's maybe more suited for Sean:-S
  23. just to add - the previous posts on this thread kind of demonstrate my point
