  1. fantastic! It's been aaaaages since we had a *Bob*/Alan ding-dong.... And for the numpty gag alone Alan is ahead on points (even though *Bob* is right)
  2. R2 release is a good few months away I got the R1 before Christmas and have lent it to 3 different people - all of them watched the whole lot in a 3 day window or less And 4 it is the best Series/Season yet.....
  3. andypandy I agree with you on the quality of the 72 burger sadly the only food they do now is sandwiches - very good sandwiches IMO, but not always what the doctor ordered
  4. indeed Annaj - sure, weren't we all lurkers and newbies once (12 months, 3400 posts and 2 livers ago, may the lord have mercy on me)
  5. I would never tell a lady what she can and can't do....
  6. I'm going with a solid booking for 5 at the mo myself, mate from Hitchin, Mike P, a certain host of another comedy club + Brendan?
  7. but she did take, like, eleven drink-ups to pluck up the courage to attend... ;-)
  8. I think there is truth in what Annaj says I would file CWALD under "healthy" but gross or kinky? nah...
  9. Saturday 12th usually a 9pm start If I get enough yays I will book some seats tomorrow
  10. As one of the few people to be privy to a real-life-genuine conversation between DM and CWALD, I'm saying nothin'
  11. all that turning rifleman - it reminds me of why the Irish are so mobile with their speech only in Ireland do you hear, appropos of nothing in conversation "Stop" "C'mere" "Go waaayyy!" You can lose lbs if you speak to a Irish person...
  12. best place for him I know what you mean about records and that - but at a gig it's just a wonderful release. When I first heard hundreds of people singing: "I wish, Bill Hicks, was aliiiiiive..." I came over all funny. Oooh look - I just did again!
  13. So many new people - by the time rifleman harris said he was "new" I thought "'ang on, you've been around ages dear boy" - and a pleasure it has been too And Michael Palaeologus - that is one of the best rallying calls I've seen in a while - it should be stickied (?) at the top of every page on here
  14. And let's not forget the lovely herbs 'n spices lady..
  15. I pretty much loathe Wetherspoons but of all the things wrong with them, the drink side of things is pretty good I wouldn't touch the draught lagers but they usually have a good selection of bottled interesting ones and plenty of real ale After that it's ALL downhill... atmosphere, food, decor, The worst one I've ever been to is the one in Balham... oh dear God, the horror
  16. another thumbs up for first direct from me. Been with them for about 15 years now and in all that time I kept expecting the initial "there isn't that much of a customer base - when they expand the service will go downhill". But it never has I get any transactions texted to me each morning so if anything is amiss I know straight away and everytime I have to ring them up they have been as far from any other company as to be barely credible.... 10/10 in my book There was a heated debate with them a good few years back when I wanted to move to a flat in Highbury and they wouldn't do the reference based on my outgoings and I had the hump with them briefly... but in retrospect they were right to block me.
  17. as it's the Curry Cabin - shouldn't we meet somewhere closer to it - say Franklins or Liqourice?
  18. that Burnley game, huh? cracking stuff - I almost wished they would score and win. A proper game a proper cup tie and miles more entertaining than any other game I've seen of late (then again I missed the Spurs - Reading goalfest despite being outside the ground haggling with touts)
  19. well done that man - but more to the point - you going or what?
  20. Gut Rocking kicking off again for the new year at EDT next week with a great line-up - I'll be there PLUS Genius Stewart Lee at ED Comedy in Forest Hill's Hob on Saturday - Stewart Lee - Ang Lee routine....
  21. your loss PGC... your loss... personally I can't wait. I have taken about 8 different people to see him and everyone of them became evangelical.. and that quote you used - surely self-effacing is a quality? ;-)
  22. I know this is gigs-already-seen but: Do you love Rock music? Have you been dissapointed with most of what you've heard over the last few years? Do you want to get that feeling you got when you were in your teens and saw what live music could be like? Well come with me to http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=18396271 I'll be going to one of the last gigs on the list as I am unable to attend earlier but if you haven;t seen this guy you simply must. I'm surprised it;s the Soho Theatre - I've seen him upstairs at the Garage, Borderline and Scala but in any case this oene man and his guitar will single-handedly restore your faith in rock n roll.... who's with me?
  23. That Ferrell/Thompson one is on my pre-recorded planner. I wasn't going to watch it but you have piqued my interest embellina - recommended then? *edit* - just had a look up on the usual places and found this snippet from The Observer "it is also worth noting - and this must be some kind of a cinematic first - that the surnames of all the characters are borrowed from celebrated thinkers associated with mathematics from Blaise Pascal through David Hilbert to MC Escher and Francis Crick. This goes way beyond Harold Pinter naming the principal characters in No Man's Land after early 20th-century cricketers" I think this may just be the ticket for this evening
  24. The most stressful part of any journey for me is the changing - so the fewer changes the better. So I go to Victoria and rather than mooch about getting to Paddington I just get the district along a couple of stops and change for Picadilly (no walking required) It MIGHT take a few minutes longer in the end - but not significantly. And is less hassle (and cheaper) The journey back? Never good... all journey's back from anywhere to anywhere are not good at best of times... but I just reverse the Victoria trip I have gotten cabs but even at 6am it's just painful - and I'm in no mood to speak to driver anyway
  25. SteveT Not much you can do if you have just TV sound - but anyone with a home cinema setup (and you can get a basic one for chip-money these days) can adjust the centre-speaker (usually dialogue) as much as they like - problem sorted
