CWALD has acquired series 4 this evening - hence here sudden absence from this forum..... man I wish I was her, having all those episodes in front of me...

Is there ever any pleasing some of you ladies out there?
SeanMacGabhann replied to xanthe's topic in The Lounge
Alas CWALD I have never had the pleasure with Alan, and so can't vouch either way.... But as I doubt Lizzy has either I'm not sure why she feels justified in taking a cheap shot As for my tastes, historically I have alternated (not deliberately) between "amazonian" and "smaller" (for want of better phrases) - categories don't come into it for me.... -
it does rather bring to mind the Bill Hicks routine about good guys and bad guys "JFK? Murdered "Martin Luther King? Murdered "Gandhi? Murdered Reagan? Wounded....."

what the hell is going on with this forum? How did we get from the sort of witty banter in The Quiet Room and The limerick threads to this? Has it turned into Heat or TV Quick Jesus (and yes I'm well aware that people will now accuse me of being "overly defensive" .... but christ on a bike.. if we have a misogynist thread about females anywhere do point out the irony won't you) -
Grace Humility Wit Come on Atila, incorporate some of these into your repertoire - even calling them Spuds all the time is REALLLLLLLY tiresome

I'm inclined to agree with that statement Not sure if actual, you know, evidence would back it up, mind... he does have some history on this http://www.people.co.uk/news/tm_objectid=17108970&method=full&siteid=93463&headline=wenger-lashes-cheat-eboue--name_page.html Plus his humiliation of Lehman has been pretty public (and deserved)

* coughs * I spend a lot of time agreeing with non-Arsenal fans on here but to single out Wenger as someone who "moans" because the other team didn't want to play..? I mean, you're not wrong Keef but if I had Rafa as a manager I wouldn't be quick to bring up other managers as excuse-finders... Wenger was correct in his analysis as far as it went but there is equally something wrong with the Arsenal first 11 at the moment - there is an argument to give the "2nd" 11 a run in the lague to freshen things up for us I feel

sheeeeeeeeeeit Season 4 done.. and we in the MacGabhann household have spent the last 24 hours talking about nothing else. The city, the issues, the acting, the future.... Nothing comes close. I said it before and I'll say it again

Good shout Annasfield I do make predictions but I also try and avoid putting the boot in elsewhere - when I was watching the Portsmouth game against Arsenal I too thought of the forum, and specifically Atila Hubris I think it's called. or something....

I'm kind of worried I have left cooking so late that my annual trip to the Dog at noon is under threat - and if I can't make it at noon, there ain't no point in going at all! Anyway - chin chin everyone. :)-D

Heidi I hear you on the stress front and hope you didn't think I was getting at you. Tis a stressful time for everyone and I hope it all works out in the end... My fingers crossed you have better luck tomorrow x Sean PS 3 visits to Croydon??? No-one is going to feel good after that alone ;-)
-
Heidi As I say that is awful - I know they did read this thread a while back.. I wonder what we can do to get some kind of response (I'm a big fan of the consumer affairs correspondant in the Guardian when she gets companies who have been stonewalling disgruntled customers to fess up and give compo) If you are interested in taking it further let me know.. Ummm... that said, all that is separate from the point I made earlier (before Heidi's awful tale..)
-
That's a shame Heidi - but how did it work out? Was the order phoned through? Faxed? Dropped off by hand? And when it was picked up and paid for when did you realise it was wrong? Can you take a picture of the wrong order and compare it to the original and we could maybe use the forum to right a wrong?

Wish I could get the full version somewhere online, but my favourite Christmas Song A Change At Christmas - Flaming Lips

So today, Christmas Eve, do people want to guess if William Rose was a) very busy b) empty Exactly but for some reason some people just don't get it For reasons totally out of our control, we needed to wait until today to buy meat. We hadn't not planned, but were waiting to confirm who is coming tomorrow before deciding on the menu Aaaanyway, in the queue (which was down to Coriander), not a problem, to be expected, or as Walter in Big Lebowski would say "Nothing here is F@@@ed dude..." when this woman parks up as close as possible with much elaboration (couldn't park a lleeeetle bit further away heavens no) joins the queue behind and starts to bang on about how "disGUSTING" this whole queue business is.... Not to the people around her, we don't want to talk to THEM do we? She actively took out her mobile and rang someone else to bleat If you are running around on Christmas Eve, who's fault is it exactly? Does she think the queue in supermarkets are small (from passing today make that a big no)? Does she think people have opened a shop on the busiest day of the year just for her? My question is, what was she expecting? Why is it a problem? And why has it stuck with me all freakin day bringing down my festive buzz? To think these people have a vote... Moon on a stick with some people.....

woolwich turning into a betting shop? (Lounged)
SeanMacGabhann replied to alba's topic in The Lounge
Not a fan of betting shops myself (especially that garish one - is it Bet Fred? That will be a real eyesore if it's them) But being disgusted is a tad harsh? My objections would be a) yet another chain (but anyone can counter that with the fact that it was already a chain so I won't make a fuss) b) it could look really horrible. I mean really really, not in a Foxtons way horrible but REALLY horrible I'm sure some people will object to the gambling side and the effects on families but as with alcohol, the fact that some people become dependant shouldn't stop the show for everyone else in my opinion But if it looks as horrible as that one opposite Sainsbury's on DKH then I will sign anything to stop it - otherwise, que sera sera -

I heard the dicussions on Sky yesterday and apparently it wasn't just a guess - the Arsenal team had discussed Keane's penalty taking before the game and knew that Keane likes keepers to commit before kicking the ball - that's why Almunia stayed up for so long and chose correctly That said the penalty wasn't up to his usual standard and could easily have gone past Almunia had it been better
-
And a very Merry Christmas and big hello to you young Xanthe
-
very good PeckhamGateCrasher - I like that... on a more serious note, I'm glad we got the 3 points yesterday but we were poor and a supposedly weakened Spurs team defended much much better than they have so far this season... in short, we were lucky. And that's ok, teams vying for the title need luck sometimes
-
she beat me to it... but then she (along with 99% of the population) is immeasurably more alert than me today Hope she doesn't tell you what I got you for Christmas mind...
