  1. Good catch Jah. I had indeed forgotten.
  2. I don?t want to punish anyone I agree we need banks to be in good shape to help any recovery But I wonder just how bad a job someone in charge of a bank has to do before we can say they were bad
  3. I think I know her
  4. don't forget the new proper Italian opening in the Village And erm... Pizza Express is there too. And Bella Pasta.
  5. thanks banks are defaulting on payments simce the bailout - that's not the accusation. But if they have money for bonuses after the bailout where has that come from?
  6. Hmmm - if you have no money to pay the mortgage, the bank doesn't lend you the money again, ittakes the house off you You COULD borrow the money from friends or family, but they will be rightly pissed off if they see you driving a new car the following month
  7. I know we will never see eye to eye on it But if RBS awarded themselves over 1 billion in bonuses, where did that money come from again? And why did they need rescuing? What is the bonus for? Paying staff, regardless of the job they did, for a company that shouldn't even exist because of ineptitude My first post on this thread specifically said i didn't want to single out banks - I'm all in agreement that society at large played the part in the financial collapse - but when peopel start absolving the banks of their part I get a bit annoyed
  8. It's not the money we spent to save the banks that is considered taken. It's the money they then give themselves afterwards to reward themselves. We won't get that money back
  9. Marvellous pgc!
  10. It's Keef And always will be. I tried, dammit, I tried, but I wasn't able to overtake him
  11. I?m not going to agree with just attacking banks but how has this whole deficit thing been recast as a UK fiscal issue, with the government at the time solely responsible? Osborne and Cameron supported the Labour spending plans back in 2008 for starters And in case it has escaped anyone?s notice but most countries around the world are in similar choppy waters ? to lesser or greater degree, but just before the finiancial crisi hit, Britain was well positioned. I doubt we would have been in a significantly different position whoever was in power
  12. you haven't seen the thread he/she has started about The Way People Talk yet then....
  13. Djkq. You really don't need to contest every. Single. Thing Anyone who lives close to Barry road with any wits know that people hare down that road at speeds unseen on any other road. You don't need a fucking speed gun to say "yep THAT one was 60 mph" It's a road that people drive excessively fast on. Really
  14. At my school I was taught by women who wore hair covering veils Of course, i didn't like them any more than people doing it now
  15. Well for a start, he didn't fall out with his manager For seconds he was honest about his reasons and I find them compelling. There is no question a kid from barcelona wouldn't want go go back after the best part of 10 years in England
  16. Marvellous. See you at the Phoenix on the 12th November then atticus, where you get a free beverage of your choice
  17. Can't deny Fabregas had a lot on his mind at the World Cup as well - he and Wenger still behaved properly, and even if he had gone to Barcelona he would have done so with most fan's blessings Rooney - different class. As in,none
  18. What?s the figure being mooted for the transfer? 50 million? I?m not so sure that will be realised ? if he plays like this for another 2 months, someone wil be taking an almighty gamble Last season: oh he hasn?t recoverd from injury properly World Cup: oh he?ll pick himself up for this ? nope This season: he?ll show the doubters now ? nope He really could be gone for good ? at least as the force he was. He might be solid without being spectacular for a few more years but I certainly wouldn?t want him at Arsenal
  19. I think the ?why? comes down to Rooney being yet another young man who thinks he knows better than anyone else Sure, it may be ?wise? to maximise his value before he becomes a busted flush before 30, but he may not even make that at the current rate of decline. He is young, and someone like him can only benefit from someone like Fergie ? he just doesn?t like what he hears. I?ve never liked him and I said to Everton fans at the time that he was going to be another Gascoine As to ?where? ? pick whichever speculation you like the sound of the most. If he goes to City, expect an Adeboyor type mini-resurgence before people go ?oh I see, he really IS a twat?
  20. Stats are wonderful for many things, but convincing the general public? I doubt it
  21. @ Jeremy ? I hear what you are saying but given the pricing, and how long it?s been empty, if another business was going to happen there it would have happened by now
  22. They really arent
  23. I totally agree with this and, if pushed, am inclined towards the MM/Huguenot position ? from a logical perspective. And I?m not worried that the changes will lead t me burning in my bed so scare tactics don?t work on me eaither And yet, and yet?. As I pointed out earlier, can anyone say their postal service is better than it was even a decade ago. All the warning were similar at the time, as were the reassurances. When two banks or big companies merge, the assurances are often put out that jobs won?t necessarily be lost etc etc ? and there is no evidence whatsoever not to believe each individual statement. But everybody knows that the merged operation will shed jobs If the firefighters are supicious of management I say they have reason to be. No evidence. But reason to be
  24. pearson - I think you know that wasn't aimed at you (tu)
