  1. I always thought that "chav" meant someone who acts in an antisocial manner, and wears tacky/gaudy "designer" clothing. So maybe these guys don't fall into that stereotype. But exactly who are we afraid of offending here?
  2. Listen, anyone who says this is OK is either a complete moron or a troll... neither are worth arguing with...
  3. Happy to be proved wrong! It seemed like such a step up for Brook, but he proved he belongs at world level. There's a huge depth of talent in the WW division, so winning a legit belt is a huge acheivement. Hopefully he can hold onto it for a while to come.
  4. Doesn't "big air" mean a jump off a ramp? Not just some poxy litte wheelie. Incorrect extreme sports terminology. Should have called the police, nothing will be acheived on the good old EDF.
  5. As much as I hate the herd mentality of the bushy beard and tats thing, its gotta be better than the 'dressed down city worker' uniform of chinos, pink shirt and brown brogues.

I take your point in a way - even kids from apparently stable, loving backgrounds can go off the rails. But responsible parents should be able to make certain guarantees. That they go to reasonable lengths to know what their children are doing and who they're with. That if the kids get in trouble, they do something about it. That they don't threaten to beat up other parents who complain about their behaviour.
  8. WW is pretty good - as DC says, try to go for Szechuan dishes. Twice cooked pork and saliva chicken are our regulars.

Interestingly, the butcher is also selling a few local (and some non-local) beers too
  10. TBH the view coming out of ED station is pretty bleak anyway... scruffy costcutter, derelict council block, etc.
  11. TBH I don't have a big problem with lads mags (apart from the fact that they're rubbish). They're not pretending to be something they're not, or masquerading as "news". I've no particular urge to see the latest Hollyoaks starlet in a bikini, but I don't hold a grudge against those who do (and get reviews of the new Kasabian album and Jason Statham movie thrown into the mix).
  12. Louisa, what happened to the Devon plan? Bromley seems rather unambitious.
  13. It doesn't sound particularly similar. But both sound good in very different ways...
  14. Same guy - but rather toned down this time. It's an interesting way to advertise for business... racist rants alongside claims that he's the type of stand-up guy we should feel safe letting into our homes.
  15. Sounds good (in a wrong-but-right kind of way), but where does the "smoked" bit come in?
  16. 3 little piggies Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's a shame you only chose to highlight that > small part of my post and turn it into something > negative. Bullying behaviour me thinks? Don't be ridiculous. You wrote a post which, to me, seemed to suggest that the behaviour of these kids was normal. While I think that some of the behaviour described here (particularly the more extreme examples) is quite abnormal. Of course I realise that your kids don't behave in the same way... that was my point. I don't think we should accept it just because, your know, "they're teenagers".
  17. What is spiced smoked shredded chicken? That's a new one on me
  18. It was quite odd. A really bizarre tirade against immigration and foreign builders, in response to the most innocent of requests.
  19. I see the builder who went on a racist rant in the businesses section seems to have deleted his post!
  20. Clearly surrogacy, IVF, etc should only be made available after passing appropriate background checks. But IMO criticism of people taking these treatments are out of order if you've never experienced the pain and distress of being unable to start a family. Not to mention profoundly hypocritical when you've already had kids of your own.
  21. miga - your post can be neatly condensed into just two words

Perhaps someone should ask her what the titles are, and if there any signs of "wear and tear"
  23. El Pibe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > thought this might cheer up a few who prefer a more heavy handed approach Looks like that is far from the first punch that woman's ever thrown!
  24. Not sure who sells Thornbridge locally - Ocado carry some of their beers though, at a reasonable price. Bossman is good... but a bit overpriced IMO. But useful to have it there to tide you over between Ocado deliveries. The costcutter (or whatever it calls itself now) on Bellenden Rd actually has a good selection too. I actually think Pioneer is a little under-hopped for an American IPA! But a nice beer, and only ?2.50 in their on-site bar.
  25. Can't see it going well for Brook (I'm thinking Cleverly/Kovalev all over again) but hope I'm wrong. Fury vs Wilder would be interesting, but doubt it will happen as Wilder in particular seems risk averse.
