  1. Was reminded of this song (in a very literal way): Great tune... before all that tight jeans and eyeliner glam/goth crap came along a couple of years later.
  2. I used to know someone who faced a similar issue converting his garage. He got round it by keeping the garage doors, which opened into a small storage area for bicycles, tools, etc. While the majority of the space was converted into living space with roof lights.
  3. The original version isn't always the best/definitive version. All Along The Watchtower, Twist and Shout, Tainted Love... I'd put Cash's version of Hurt in the same bracket. Oh, and Elvis Costello's version of What's so Funny About Peace Love and Understanding. It's a whole other thread, I guess. Just don't mention Puff Daddy!

Are you sure about that? I thought that sourdough was the traditional Naples style.
  5. I know Fox... it's a paradox. I guess because many pubs are tied, and therefore forced to pay extortionate prices for drinks. Restaurants, on the other hand, can buy drinks at wholesale price.

Well, there are plenty of areas in N/E/W London which are cheaper than ED. But if you look at areas with comparable shops/bars/restaurants/etc and distance to central London, there isn't much else in the same price range.
  7. The "artist" earns royalties as well as the songwriter, right? Then the bigger picture... all the albums he sold off the back of it, and the overall rise in his profile. I'm sure Puffy Diddly would have done very well out of it. SJ maybe not picking up the intended sarcasm...
  8. How about the Puff Daddy version of Every Breath You Take? Simultaneously brings a tear to the eye and gets the booty shaking. Also reminds us that even when faced with the death of a friend, there's a few quid to be made if you're sharp enough.
  9. Don't forget (pretty decent) pizzas at the Actress too. Of all the things we need more of, pizza is almost bottom of the list. A halfway decent Vietnamese place would do a roaring trade, ditto Japanese, Spanish, Mexican. A good Chinese/dim sum place would probably do well. Also continually amazed that none of the curry house owners have the initiative to reinvent themselves with regional/"home cooking" type food, ditch the tikka massala and double the profits. There must be a practically endless supply of Indian people in London who know how to cook amazing food.
  10. What an awful, awful article. And to think that this Dee person actually makes a living from this sort of "knowledge"...
  11. Sue, don't forget Review on Bellenden Rd!

So Seabag, what you're saying is - clothes look good on good looking people who are in good shape.
  13. Perhaps maxxi's "it's not the 80s" comment was a reference to Wall Street's "lunch is for wimps" But if you have a job where you have time to go out for lunch every day, then I want to come and work at your place.

Socks and sandals... proof that being fashionable doesn't equate to good taste.

But there are people who actively seem to be fans of bus travel. And whenever I take it I seem to spend half of the journey gritting my teeth.
  17. Let the cat out of the bag.. Or should that be the dog out of the net?
  18. Seabag... think I've realised who you are. Was I particularly slow to catch on?
  19. Congee... nasty stuff...
  20. www.binarytranslator.com is a bit quicker, EP
  21. Honestly don't know how anyone could be a fan of bus travel, when they're forever deciding at the last minute to terminate at Camberwell.
  22. I sit next to an Indian guy, who brings in home made veg curry every day. It smells amazing.
  23. I would like the generalise the OP to suggest that anything fish based which is nuked in the microwave should be avoided at all costs.
  24. I've moved onto EDF.net
