Hmmm... bit of a poor job with the time stretching...

Certainly no more so than a cinema..
  4. Farage and co seem to be gaining traction by essentially blaming immigration/immigrants for the country's problems. It's the 'pretty' face of nationalism and xenophobia as far as I'm concerned. Yes of course its possible to be anti EU and still be a perfectly decent person, but I don't believe that applies to this lot.
  5. Probably easier to just get the bus back, or get the overground to PR/DH and walk/bus from there.
  6. It is very messy. You'll need to take up all the carpets in the first floor otherwise they will get ruined. And probably completely redecorate afterwards (not just the ceilings).
  7. Yeah maybe the driver wasn't paying enough attention. Or going too fast. Or maybe the woman walked out into the road between parked cars and the driver wasn't able to stop in time? Who knows what happened? And why pretend that you know what happened just to make a point? Some people... FFS...

Most of the estate agents were already here back then as far as I remember! I don't think the number of independent shops has really declined either.
  9. Good luck to my neighbours if they want to use my broadband... I barely get reception in my own house!
  10. Just because the lease is being sold, does it necessarily mean the tenants (londis) are leaving?
  11. Hard to compare to Netflix/lovefilm though. Films which are in demand are only available through PPV. The subscription services get the dregs.
  12. We popped our heads through the door earlier on today, the menu looks good.. fairly small, didn't seem particularly expensive.
  13. DMC have started sending SMS reminders, yes. Wonder if an automated SMS response would be practical/helpful?
  14. The issue isn't whether it's cheap for a custom design. How does the cost compare to a standard double-decker or bendy bus?
  15. You can't cater for everybody's taste... just because YOU don't like a particular public piece of art, doesn't mean it shouldn't be there.
  16. I'm all for redressing the balance etc. But I wonder what the reaction would be if I started posting about the bums of female receptionists or shop assistants? Maybe I should try!

    Stomach bug

When I've had similar things previously (although not as lengthy) the doctor recommended water for 24hrs, with a little salt and sugar added. And if you have to eat, plain popcorn (the microwave stuff with no flavourings). Although sounds like what you have may be more serious, so these suggestions may be irrelevant. Whatever it is... hope you get better soon.
  18. We got a takeaway from there the other night. Was hard to get through... can imagine its very busy on a Friday. 2 mains, 1 bed rice, 1 bread, 1 starter - ?30. Not cheap but much better than other Indian takeaways (and that's coming from someone who was previously a bit cynical about Ganapati).
  19. Deleted (not going to get drawn into some awful pro-life debate)
  20. Yeah, well put SJ.
  21. I'm (sort of) of with steveo. I don't understand why people want to hunt foxes, and to tear them apart with dogs just seems especially barbaric. But I can't see myself getting out there with my placard... animals die every day (both at the hands of humans and other animals) and this seems like a tiny drop in the ocean.
  22. They come in more than one colour? Why didn't you tell me four years ago? This changes everything.

I completely trashed the 70s amp/speakers/turntable my Dad gave me when I was a teenager. Only to find out many years later that they had all become classics and actually worth a bit. They did sound good though... after you're used to reasonable kit, it's hard to revert to a bookbox (can you still get those?) or ipod speaker dock. But most people are perfectly happy listening to something small/unobtrusive/rubbish. How's the yellow radio, Bob?
  24. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They're overtaking our > traditional healthier take away meals. The only traditional takeaway I can think of is fish and chips, which is surely no better than fried chicken. It might even be worse as the portions are always enormous. I don't mind a bit of fried chicken now and again.
  25. Never said there wasn't merit in it! Wouldn't want to sound like I'm anti-renewables at all... it's fascinating stuff and without doubt we're all stuffed if we don't come up with reliable clean energy. But surely HS2 will be electric anyway? It's just a matter of how that electricity will be generated in years to come.
