Yep, can't really expect them to try to distinguish between drives which are used or not. Sorry to hear people have been caught out when they knew no harm was being done, but this isn't an argument they can win. Best to put this one down to experience, I think.

Yep... most people are mainly concerned with their own lives, and their friends/families. I think that probably holds true regardless of how much money you have. The occasional smug middle-class gathering, complete with hackneyed covers band, is really no worse than pumping loud music out of a clapped out Vauxhall Nova every day (a consciously lazy stereotype).

Yes I agree a live band playing outside after 10pm is too much, you should probably try to find the organisers and put in a complaint. (and if I were in your shoes, I would probably never want to hear sodding "mustang sally", ever again). But don't see a need for all these class based assumptions though. Why do you think they look down on people living on the estate? All this resentment seems rather unfounded.

We got Tommi's burgers from Deliveroo once... expensive, and completely underwhelming. Overcooked and topped with mayo, iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato... like something my mum would have cooked in 1987. Never again. Maybe the Marylebone restaurant is good, but this off-shoot (in Deliveroo's own kitchen, I believe) is not. Honest is great and would thoroughly recommend (their "tribute" burger is my favourite). Another place I like is Kitchen 54. I've never had their burgers, but the chicken wings are excellent, especially with the mamba sauce. "Philly Joe" fries, chicken waffle sandwich, and even the salads also very good.

I thought parking across dropped kerbs had always been forbidden... unfortunately trying to appeal to some sort of common sense is completely pointless.

What time does the music at these posh/middle-class/selfish street parties go on until?

I've also had reasonably good hi-fi CD players that are a bit picky about what CDs they'll play. Maybe worth making a copy, and seeing if the copy plays?

Thanks for the tipoff DTR. We sometimes get Franklins chicken through Deliveroo... yeah it's OK I guess, but can be a little dry, and it's not cheap. Have never seen this place on Deliveroo, but we're over in SE15, so a little way away. Maybe we'll head over there for lunch one day if it's kid friendly.

Yeah if it's just once a year, I'd probably just suck it up. But I think Otta's right... after a certain time (2am?) you should take it inside, and turn the music down to a reasonable level. Give your neighbours a fighting chance of getting a few hours sleep...

I do agree that the UK BLM protests do seem odd, as the problem doesn't really exist here. civilservant's example of disproportionate prison numbers isn't really comparable IMO. That discussion should be more about the social conditions which have lead to these statistics. It has nothing to do with unarmed men being shot.

Wonder if this is related to the guys on dirt bikes, who were tearing around the area around this time last year? It was discussed on this very forum... apparently they're good kids really, it is society's fault for not providing a local off-road bike course for them.

Surely the point of BLM is to highlight that some people are treated differently and unfairly. "ALM" seems to me like an ignorant refutation of that.

I used to steal biscuits, fruit, etc from the school canteen occasionally. More recently... I got a takeaway from Honest Burgers without paying (totally slipped my mind and I just walked out). My wife went in the next day and fessed up though!

I'm leaning heavily towards Ward on points. But like you say, it's a very interesting fight, and though Kov has never fought anybody like Ward, the converse is also true. Let's hope Stevenson has the guts to face the winner...
