  1. I suppose most people have just decided that the train's not worth the bother until normal service is resumed. I've mainly been keeping clear, although did get the LB>PR train yesterday evening, and it wasn't at all full...
  2. Ruislip's a v long drive... well over an hour. Might as well go to the proper seaside!
  3. RD - I believe we're talking about the former (his art collection, not his own artwork) http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36781982
  4. Dismayed.. no. It's a collection of art that one man owned (at one point), doesn't mean it should be associated with him in perpetuity.

Agreed... I'm not agreeing with the sentiment that some people shouldn't have voted. But IF the result was a result of a populist campaign being lapped up by people who aren't usually politically engaged/informed... then that is unfortunate.
  6. Blues can be OK when it veers away from the template and gets all soulful and stuff. But I hate it when it's middle aged men in crap hats playing solos over hackneyed 12 bar boogie...

There is a point in there though... perhaps the disenchanted and disengaged saw it as a chance to have their voices heard. It's not necessarily selfish, but very ill-judged...

He pulled out of the leadership race (because he was outmanoeuvred), but he's still an MP and senior cabinet minister.
  9. I agree that it's a bit scruffy Nigello (as is most of Rye Lane and surroundings, to be fair). But it wouldn't stop me going to - and enjoying - any of those places.
  10. MeatLiquor is decent - think I prefer Honest Burgers, but a good addition to LL. I think Spinach is going to be replacing Le Chandelier.
  11. We went to Meatopia last year, and yeah... it was all-bran and salad for a week afterwards. Good though. Lots of nice beers too.
  12. They look OK, but personally if I was going to live in a new-build, I'd prefer a clean modern design rather than mock-period, finished in "gentrification grey" (as recently coined by another poster).
  13. Problem is with a guided bus (or a tram I suppose) is that any route into London is going to be criss-crossed with side streets requiring access, so hard to envisage as a speedy express service. I always thought this was pretty cool : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuppertal_Suspension_Railway
  14. Hmm yeah... BMWs have a bit of an image problem, one reason I'd probably never buy one. Bright red paint job and white leather seats aren't exactly going to help matters!

What would be the advantage of a guided bus, over conventional buses running an express service? (aside from environmental)?
  16. I've never been hemmed in either. Sometimes you need a few turns to get out, but very, very hard to get stuck.
  17. Yes Wi-Fi extenders work. However, a better solution is to buy a decent router (better range and more reliable), using the Virgin "hub" in modem-only mode.

  19. Great stuff, HMB. I particularly liked Mi=528 Hz (=6) (Mira gestorum) For Transformation, Miracles and DNA Repair

Labour were overwhelmingly in favour of "remain" (despite Corbyn), so what's the point?
  22. Because he is very popular with members (idealists), but much less so with the parliamentary party (pragmatists).
  23. Apologies for stating the obvious, but surely we elect the party, not the PM...
  24. Seconded... a really nice little place with excellent coffee.

"Preaching to the converted" is pretty popular though. Seems to work for the Guardian, Telegraph, Sun, etc...
