Green Door - Shakin Stevens (not a classic)

Why so sure it's Macroban? The statistics here indicate that in 2008, Macroban only posted 11 cryptic sentences containing hyperlinks. Further, these figures indicate that the majority of posts contain a link, and consist of less than 20 words. So I would say that your accusation was rather unfounded - wouldn't you agree?

Still playing the charades game then? No doubt with today's guardian under one arm, organic sourdough in the other, and a smug grin on your face. While conveniently ignoring the fact that public money has been diverted from areas in need, into your precious East Dulwich. Did I mention that Nunhead has a fishmongers and a bakers? And erm... a cemetary? And Peckham Rye Park is in Nunhead too. In two years time you'll all be wishing you lived here, suckers! And just to think, you could have paid 200k less for your house! WHO'S GOT THE SMUG GRIN NOW?? SO LONG SUCKERS!!!!

Not every artist is like Madonna and wants to charge as much as possible - some artists respect their fans. To take a well known example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugazi#Business_practice_and_ethics (sure, Fugazi aren't/weren't a stadium rock band, but still plenty big enough to interest the touts). But in fairness to MM, he has already explicitly said that he doesn't agree with touts buying large numbers of tickets, so don't see why people are arguing with him on that point.

There are some things in life which should be treated as commodities, and others which perhaps shouldn't. Who wants to live in a society where everything we hold dear to us becomes a tradeable commodity, available to the highest bidder? Not me!

Agreed... I know the Bishop isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I've always found the staff pretty good in there.

The point may be a genuine one, but there are ways to go about saying such things without sounding like a miserable, moaning old git!

Do they want to become a proper restaurant for the evenings, or keep it in a cafe style format? Becoming a fully-fledged restaurant and bar is going to be difficult while they have the counter along the side - as long as that's there, it will always look like a cafe/bakery. But it could work as a pizzeria/ice-cream parlour/dessert emporium, perhaps with a line in Irish coffee, boozy hot chocolate, bottled beers, and fresh fruit smoothies (not the rubbish "smoothies" they sell at the moment). If they want to become a proper restaurant, I think they need to ditch the counter, get wooden furniture, less bright decor, and make the place feel more comfortable.

There is never enough of the chocolate bar in the McFlurry. I've bought one or two before, but won't bother again. They've had their chance. I do quite like the flavour of the "big mac sauce", but the burger itself is so filthy, it's hard to justify eating it.

Where I used to work there was a cash machine which would always give out 50s. I never liked having them, I rarely pay cash for anything worth over ?20 (except petrol).

Venue for Hatton Fight on Sat 2nd May?
Jeremy replied to surfbobby's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It should be a cracker (although I doubt I'll be there as few of my mates are into boxing). Still can't believe that no channel showed the Froch fight live, that was a real belter... it was just like Rocky! -

Wearing trainers can often help you aviod the worst bars. The only time I'd dress "smartly" to go out is when I'm going to a proper posh restaurant, but that doesn't happen often.

considering a move... can you help re area?

One of the ex-council houses... yeah I think that's a good buy, some of them are quite nice. It's fine round there, not rough at all. I lived on the actual estate (Basington Way) for 6 months, and it was fine there too. Very quiet... of course you got a few teenagers around but I never saw any trouble. Very little sign of vandalism or graffiti, and I used to come and go at all times of night and never felt threatened. The only hassle I ever got was from the bloody traffic wardens. -
archic - come on, don't persist with personal arguments after the issue is over. That's what DD was doing, and look what happened.

And you say I'm the one with postcode insecurity!! You're the one who bought it up in the first place. And if I remember rightly, ever since you first joined this forum you've been going on and on about how great Nunhead is, and how much you dislike East Dulwich, its shops, and its residents. But who cares - you're obviously just on here to stir up shit, I don't know why I rise to it. I must be almost as bored as you! p.s - you're still wrong!!

I walked past the accident on my way home. A woman was lying on the ground receiving medical treatment, screaming in pain - I think she may have been the cyclist. There was also a guy in motorbike gear talking to the police. Lets hope the injuries were not too severe.
-
Well... a certain person clearly didn't take my advice on board, because they've now been banned! I guess that's one way of solving the problem.

I don't think it could be remotely justifiable or proportionate. If he was doing something wrong they should have arrested him. Otherwise they should have left him alone.
