  1. The little Tesco is useful if you live nearby, or happen to be driving past. But if you're making a special journey by car, then you may as well go to Sainsbury's as their food is much better. Personally the only time I use the Tesco is on Sunday evenings, when the alternatives are limited. Similar argument for Somerfield - why provide a car park? If you're going to drive, you're better off going the extra half mile to Sainsburys.
  2. Jet, Band on the Run, and Live and Let Die are all pretty good! Can't think of anything decent after Wings though.
  3. Finish off Crystal Palace??
  4. Well, my setup is far from a pro studio - I have an Akai digital 16 track recorder, focusrite pre-amp/compressor, Rode, AKG and Shure mics. So it's a reasonable "project studio" standard - and *just about* from this millenium. I only use Cubase for midi sequencing, not for audio recording... I just find it too unreliable (plus I don't have a proper soundcard anyway - maybe one day I'll join the 21st century and get a MOTU setup or something). I've recorded lots of bands before, and one or two solo singer/songwriters. I used to charge ?50 for a day of recording... I've not done it for a couple of years, but would be up for giving it a go if either of you guys were interested.

No no no, if you sell a call and a put, you are essentially short on a straddle - so you start taking a loss as soon as the spot moves in either direction! The whole point of hedging by shorting the stock is that you can dynamically change the quantity of the hedge as the delta changes. Anyway, enough of this... > > Regulation of over-inflated prices? Sometimes traders go short for hedging... for instance, to hedge a put option that their bank has issued. Short selling also plays an important role in regulating over-inflated prices. In fact, it's pretty much essential... which is why I think that such a tax would be impossible to implement.
  7. I wonder if we will see some sort of tax introduced on short selling? Kind of a disincentive for taking a bearish position.
  8. They could hit a pedestrian. They could force a car to suddenly brake, and cause a collision.
  9. My door is always open... so to speak.
  10. Apparently they don't actually eat that many slugs normally... and if they're forced to eat slugs due to limited options, they tend to get ill pretty quickly.
  11. Three.
  12. Antenna is OK, they'd definitely be able to sort you out if you just want a good quality recording of you playing and singing. Also, I have some recording gear and decent mics, I used to regularly record demos cheaply - so I might be able to help out.
  13. True, most people in the city have some degree of contempt for Goldmans as an organisation... but still, same applies as with Lehmans. The majority of the employees are not high earning traders, a lot of them are on a fairly ordinary income, and I don't believe people *really* want to see others out of work... anyway, they're still actually making a profit as far as I know, so it's a moot point.
  14. It depends what your requirements are. Are you a solo singer/songwriter? Are you part of a rock band? Are you looking for someone to provide accompaniment for your songs and/or creative input?
  15. You may be right... may possibly still be a useful indication of when we are starting to reach the bottom.
  16. Would love to come to one/some of these, I love curry... but this week is not good for me. Would definitely be interested in exploring the wider area, as I've probably already been to all the ED ones anyway.
  17. I imagine prices will fall until properties become a viable buy-to-let investment again. So with current rents, that will probably be about 400 - 450K for a 4 bed house.
  18. Sunday Buffet = filth!
  19. "Free" because many people don't bother paying, and it's rarely enforced. Quicker because they spend less time at stops. People can get on and off from 3 sets of doors, and swipe oyster cards once inside the bus.

Faster - I assume traffic signals will give preference to trams, so they won't get stuck in traffic. Also, they won't have to share the tram lines which bicycles, parked white vans, etc. Smoother - metal tracks will give a much smoother ride than london's pot-holed roads. Therefore safer to fit lots of standing passangers on. Cleaner - electric trams won't pump out diesel fumes
  21. PeckhamRose - I like to see lateral thinking, but in practise I don't think that improved council housing or subsidised office space is really a substitute for improved transport links!
  22. I expect those people are still waiting, the market won't pick up for a while yet!
  23. James, I agree with much of what you say, and I understand why you're frustrated that some forms of discrimination seem more "acceptable" than others. Still, I can't work out which part of DaveR's posts is supposed to be homophobic?
  24. There are NOT 8 trains per hour from ED to London Bridge. There are currently 6 for most of the day, 5 during morning rush hour (with irregular intervals), and 2 in the evenings.
