  1. I don't think propertysnake is a very good indicator, as it invariably highlights problem properties, or places which were hugely over-valued. For instance, type in SE22, and the first matches are all for Norman Court... those places have never sold well.
  2. I bought earlier this year, completed in March... I could have saved money by hanging on a few months, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. AcedOut - 300k for a one bed in ED is absurd! I expect your former neighbour will live to regret his decision...
  3. I do like to keep my eye on what's happening in the market... and can't help wondering if this is a joke: http://www.findaproperty.com/displayprop.aspx?edid=00&salerent=0&pid=1692172&agentid=03760

  5. The "proper" pubs in the area are usually empty though...
  6. bon3yard, would you be criticising if a woman posted an equivalent message?
  7. But Keef, what are the chances of a bunch of mentally ill guys all clubbing in and renting a house together? Doesn't sound very likely to me, unless this is actually some kind of special-ist accomodation?
  8. > Where's the rush, > people? If it were in France, you'd love it and > say it has charm.. 'Fickle' is one word extremely > apt for the residents of ED! Ahh, but if I were in France, I'd be on holiday... and therefore wouldn't mind the wait so much! I don't think there's anything fickle about not wanting to wait 40 mins or whatever for your lunch. It would be nice if the owners could come on the forum and tell us what they're doing to improve the service. Surely it's also in their interests to turn the tables over a bit more quickly?

  10. The police don't give a crap about card fraud... try reporting it, they'll refuse to do anything. Therefore I feel quite strongly that public forums like this are a suitable place to spread the message. BUT - only if you have evidence - and in this case, there seems to be none.
  11. I like fish fingers... particularly in a sandwich with melted cheese and tartare sauce. Are the Ross brand of fish fingers any good?
  12. I think you can eat OK on a small budget - maybe ?10 per person per week. Basic veg like carrots, onions, (tinned) tomatoes, etc are very very cheap. Pasta, rice, potatoes can all be bought cheaply, especially if you shop around (eg Asian cash & carry places for rice).
  13. True... my expenses were getting covered at the time, so it wasn't much of a concern. If it wasn't for that, I probably would have driven.
  14. I had to work in Woking for a while... 37 bus was not really useable, I used to get a train to London Bridge and Jubilee Line to Waterloo.
  15. It's overpriced if you're used to paying ?20 at Barratts/Shoe Express/etc. But generally it looks to be in the same price bracket as the existing shoe shop on LL. I'm surprised, it's not like Louisa to pass judgement without checking out the facts first!
  16. Morale of the story - drivers be careful, watch out for pedestrians, cyclists, rollerskaters, etc. Pedestrians - don't walk out in front of a moving vehicle. I think we can all agree on that one.
  17. citizen - I think you're off the mark here. Sure, drivers should beware of idiots stepping out into the road, that doesn't mean that pedestrians should cross the road without looking!! As for "give way to pedestrians"... on a pedestrian crossing, sure... or if you turn a corner to find someone already crossing a road. Otherwise, no. And it really gets on my nerves when I see people pushing a pushchair out onto a main road, in the hope of halting the traffic to let them cross. Totally irresponsible! Roads are dangerous, people need to be careful. I'm with LibraCarr on this one.
  18. Any ideas what the old tyre place is going to be? The one next to Mrs Robinson Boutique...
  19. I was thinking more of these bad boys: http://www.davinashoes.co.uk/media/images/GM125_GRYNV_150x150.jpg
  20. Just had a look on the website... those Men's clogs look absolutely ridiculous!
  21. I don't think anyone really thinks that places like Cafe El Passo are serving authentic mexican cuisine! But I would say that it's a reasonable reproduction of the bog-standard Tex-Mex food you get on every corner in Texas/California/etc.
  22. Strange, doesn't look steep enough to be DKH...
  23. I went there a couple of times, but it always seemed empty... and the food, while being acceptable, wasn't exactly "nice" as such. But it certainly had comedy value and a certain amount of individuality (despite the cliches). It was something of a LL institution, so I am sad to see it go.
  24. Fat chips with English food (eg fish), thin chips with continental food.
