  1. I used to do it regularly... taxi to Paddington then Heathrow Express usually worked out fastest early in the morning (5:30 - 6am), would usually take under an hour. Addison Lee would charge about ?30 for that journey.
  2. If I could buy the same burger in a nice pub for a quid or two less, I'd think it was pretty good.
  3. Yep, the GV15 flats are pokey, and in a nasty location overlooking the train line - and they're over priced. That's why they haven't sold.
  4. I actually don't think it's as bad as most of you make out, but I don't think it's particularly cheap.
  5. MrBen Wrote: > Unless you live in Honour Oak and want to visit > your girlfriend in Canada Water! True. I usually drive to visit my girlfriend in Canada Water, current public transport tends to take around 3 times as long.
  6. Used to live near it, never liked it. It sounds as though they may have changed the menu though - last time I went there (maybe 4 years ago) I think they were trying to be vaguely upmarket with the food, and the results were barely edible.

    Bomberman on DS

I can't figure out how to get the multiplayer working on that game...
  8. Axing the london bridge to victoria route will be a disaster. The proposed east london line may have double the frequency, but is a much less useful route.
  9. Christians have monopolised Christmas and carol services? I'm not at all religious myself, but surely that has to be tongue-in-cheek?
  10. The problem is that in South London there is so much street/violent crime, that the police have their work cut out already. If there's no immediate danger, I don't think you'll be treated as a priority. Perhaps you might be able to speed them up by saying that you think the thieves are still around.
  11. Ah OK... so you think there's going to be a recession, we'll all stop buying luxury goods... a cheap and cheerful off license will probably be more successful than an expensive "boutique" wine shop. Although I have to disagree. These days independant shops have to offer something that the supermarket doesn't offer. Whether than means interesting (or niche) products, expert advice, nice atmosphere, whatever. I think that will hold true even in times of economic decline.

    Blame Foxtons.
  13. You'll definitely find something if you don't mind ex-council flats.
  14. [i hope you don't mind if I alter your line EDOldie, it doesn't really fit as a limerick 3rd line] The Japenese were right, About the bright lights
  15. When the aliens came to Forest Hill...
  16. I wonder why alien crafts always have such bright lights on them?
  17. Let's hope something is done about the metal grilles over the windows, eh?
  18. I can't give them a tip, because I'm never around when they collect the rubbish. I've always found their service OK, but maybe I've been lucky.
  19. I here what you're saying Sean, but I was really just trying to point out that a shop like M&S or waitrose *would* be offering something not currently available locally. There's also the age-old issue of opening hours... it would be nice to be able to buy some vaguely OK food on the way home from work.
  20. > 2) Nothing M&S sells can't be bought elsewhere on > the lane (and better too) (and cheaper as well) I thought M&S spe-cial-ised in pre-packaged food, ready meals, etc... can't really think of any competition on Lordship Lane.
  21. ?800 for 2 years water? Taking the mick. Landlords always try to rip off tenents when it comes to returning their deposits, seriously it makes me furious. Don't let them get away with it. If your landlords maintenance costs were itemised, ask for a copy of the invoice.
  22. A bit like one of these? http://www.londonbar.co.uk/
  23. I got all excited when I saw signs of life in the old newsagents next to John Allen flowers... then realised it was just full of Christmas trees. humph.
  24. Nothing wrong with nativity plays, just as there's nothing wrong with mythology in general. As long as it isn't taught as the definitive truth!
