  1. And for those of us who have been banging on about having a record shop in ED, this could be a glimmer of hope...
  2. Excellent idea. I was only thinking the other day that something like this would work well in ED.
  3. HennyPenny - sorry, when I said "that still doesn't make them welcome here"... what I really meant was I that their posts were not welcome on the property section of the site. Apologies for the confusion.
  4. To be fair, they weren't posing as someone else, they openly admitted that they were estate agents. But that still doesn't make them welcome here!
  5. There was a feature on Kennedy's on BBC London radio this morning... presented by my ex-neighbour. Just thought I'd share that with you all.
  6. jonsuissy - you should ligthen up, nobody is suggesting that your friend deserved to get his car vandalised.
  7. Brendan Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What I don't understand is why someone would think > that would be a positive thing for the area. :-S Perhaps in the hope of a more frequent service?
  8. I think calling a Porsche owner a "flash git" is fair enough, to be honest... after all, you don't buy cars like that unless you want to be noticed (especially in London). Sure, it's not exactly a compliment, but it's the kind of comment that can be taken as a light-hearted jibe, perhaps even peppered with a hint of envy.
  9. nuttynat19 - there are plenty of places in London with far worse car crime, I guess you've just been very unlucky. I'm intrigued though, do you have a "posh" car? My car's always been fine apart from one little accidental knock, but it is a bit of a heap and I can't imagine anyone vandalising it out of jealousy!
  10. I'd rather have something new there than a crumbling old wreck...
  11. Any fans of The Fall here? "Mr Grumbly with a white Ferrari, is short"
  12. Wates sounds awesome, I know where my first stop will be when I start house hunting again!
  13. Typically optimistic Cohen lyrics! Saying that "the dice are loaded" in this context is the easy way out... so we can just sit back and be bitter about the state of the world, without thinking about how our paths are determined, or what can be done to redress the balance.
  14. AllforNun, here you go again with your ridiculous attempts at food snobbery. If people like food... whether it's tuna sandwiches or balsamic dressing, who are you to say they are wrong?

    Minging!
  16. Yay! I'd love it if everyone just went in to string them along, drinking their fresh juice and coffee.
  17. You may find this useful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_(poetry)
  18. I had a look at them a while ago. I actually quite liked the flats, but the location sucks. Also, I think the design will age quite badly, and resale value will not be good (as with the Hayes Grove new-builds).

Yes, Chez Nico, on the current site of the Chinese place (Mr Lius or something). He went on to open up on Park Lane, and earn 3 michelin stars!
  20. It's in Camberwell! If you're ashamed of living in Camberwell, you should never have moved there!
  21. And X-boxes, and playstation threes.
  22. The set lunch is a bit dodgy... was served a piece of steak which was as tough as leather!
  23. There's definitely been a slowdown... but talk of negative equity? This seems rather premature.

Spangles30 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Almost all the pubs are now gastro trendy There is only one gastro pub in ED! > have to admit it is all good for property > prices(!). "more expensive" is not necessarily the same as "good", even for home-owners. Unless you plan on moving away and cashing in. Sorry to go off on a tangent...
  25. I actually ate in Cafe El Paso on Saturday - unfortunately we were the only people in there! It's a shame because I guess they must be stuggling to survive, and I wouldn't like to see them go... it's become something of a local institution in my opinion. But it does exactly what it says on the tin, cheap and cheerful tex-mex. The frozen cocktails are good fun, and the bottled beer is the cheapest you'll find in ED.
