  1. I actually preferred the old prison-style brick wall! The Foxtons office might look smart in Canary Wharf or even in the west end.. but on LL, it just looks ridiculous!
  2. Is the sports amendment still valid? Oval.
  3. Nice one Mark, good to meet you and some of the other guys.
  4. Queens Park doesn't have "gate" in it... but hang on, it is located between Notting Hill Gate and Lancaster Gate. It seems as though David has invoked the second commutative translation. I think we have a hustler in our midst.
  5. Notting Hill Gate
  6. My real name is just as closely guarded as Keef's and Brendan's.
  7. Ravenscourt Park
  8. By which rule does one get from Theydon Bois to Mornington Crescent? Surely she could not have known about the triple diagonal traversal?
  9. Theydon Bois.
  10. Cockfosters - thus reprising the bird rule (with beer name optionality)
  11. I'd actually say that the threat is more the other way round... if/when the old swimming baths and gym gets refurbished.

But maybe that's up the road in SE15? Nope, there's nothing in Peckham in the "moving and shaking" vein - and not an awful lot in Camberwell either. Brixton's the nearest place for moving and shaking.
  13. It's fine if you can deal with a 20 min interval between trains during rush hour. And trains every half hour after 8pm. On the plus side, the trains tend to be quite reliable compared with the tube.
  14. People often describe the area they live by the name of the nearest station... it's not uncommon!
  15. You are correct, it's at the top of DKH. With a roller parked outside. She is obviously trying to keep a low profile.
  16. Ultraconsultancy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jeremy - in retail "Christmas" starts on the > Tuesday after the August Bank Holiday. And in some > businesses it starts on 1st July . in retail maybe, but not to normal people. That's probably why it was suspicious!
  17. Rumour has it that Jerk Rock (or was it the tyre shop) is going to be a clothes shop from the owners of Mrs Robinson.
  18. Perhaps a Staropramen, Or maybe Hoegarden...
  19. People would have been less suspicious if it wasn't for all that "christmas just around the corner" nonsense!
  20. downsouth - don't get me wrong, the menu does look good and I'd love to check it out some time. It's just that I was initially surprised at those prices in a pub. But if the food is of a high quality (which apparently it is), then I guess it's pretty good value after all!

Chapter One and Arbutus are two examples of michelin starred restaurants where you can get a meal for two with a modest wine for under ?100. And there are loads where you could spend less than ?150.
  22. ?40-?50 a head? You can get a meal in a michelin starred restaurant for that! Well, just about...
  23. hayesgrover - there is a reasonably good Italian Restaurant in ED, as wll as two French restaurants which could perhaps be described as bistros! I don't really think the area can sustain many more restaurants or bars. xone - selling your own property may work for some, but I really don't think it will catch on in a big way. By not going through an agent, you're missing out on people browsing the property sites, as well as people wandering along the high street and peering in the estate agents windows. You also have to make a lot of time to show people round. Some people seem to think that properties in ED sell themselves, but that certainly wasn't true in my case.
  24. I don't know the area that well. But the main road (Evelina Rd?) is pretty scruffy. Is there another part of Nunhead which I don't know, to add some weight to the claim that it may become "what most of the residents of ED wish would happen to Lordship Lane"?!!
  25. Agreed, let's not go wishing for people's homes to be demolished! Good luck with your renovation neogtiations Marmalade.
