  1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/35499695 Wow, it's pretty rare a boxer (let alone Khan) says stuff like "If I beat him, it will be one of the biggest upsets in boxing", or "I've got a good chance of beating him", or "I'm the underdog", or "it's a 50-50 fight"... this is not the confident, cocky langauge we're used to. I really don't think Khan believes he can win. I guess this was just the most lucrative fight available. Alvarez probably expects to walk straight through him, lining up the real superfight against Golovkin in the autumn.
  2. Seems to be all electronic music and DJs. Good luck to them, but not my cuppa.
  3. After baby reiki, reiki for pets doesn't really surprise me. But... "I do not need to see your pet in person as distant healing will be performed"... if you don't see anything wrong with that, it might finally be time for that lobotomy.
  4. If planned properly there should be no net loss in parking space. If neighbouring dropped kerbs/driveways are built adjacently, there should still be ~6m of space between the two dropped kerbs for one parking space. And it shouldn't be beyond the capability of mankind to enforce appropriate drainage (mind you... we are talking about Southwark council...). Obviously the space needs to be big enough to accomodate the car, without it jutting into the pavement.. some common sense is required. As for the the aesthetic argument - people are already free to pave their gardens, let them grow wild, or whatever. It is not really anybody else's business. I think the electric vehicle charging argument is valid... they're much more suited to urban driving than conventional cars... I doubt there any existing plans to roll out kerbside charging points across London. If I had a driveway, I'd probably buy an electric car.
  5. I have no problem with creating driveways, as long as appropriate drainage is put in. If the future of motoring is electric vehicles, then we'll need somewhere to charge the things up...
  6. Winner to face Frank Bruno...

  8. I have to say... after spending a bit of time in the "garden" of the General Watson's Watsit the other night... I'm bloody glad my house isn't anywhere near that place...
  9. Ah, Thunder... alumni of Otta's old school, I believe. Not my bag at all - but they're still going and obviously still enjoying it, so I doff my cap..

I believe the HBO dude asked him if he was holding back to prolong the fight, and he said yes, I wanted to fight more rounds to punsih him! Maybe Pascal's corner should have pulled him out earlier, if it was that one-sided and Pascal was taking heavy damage.
  11. Fox, I think talking to them one-on-one would be a reasonable approach. Keep things friendly, amiable, cooperative. A whole band of you marching in might be seen as unnecessarily confrontational.
  12. Kovalev reckons he was holding back... punishing Pascal, instead of going for an earlier finish. Kovalev/Ward is the most important fight out there right now... it needs to happen this year..
  13. It's the charitable status that really sticks in the throat. Charitable status for private schools (and their associated assets/investment vehicles) is pretty scandalous.

How about a nice cup of hot Bovil? Hmmmm, yummy! * bleugh *
  15. The area's character, maybe.

    > At what point does a drink become soup? I would dare to suggest that the two are not mutually exclusive. Some soups can be simulataneously both drinks and soups. However, once it contains any solid bits, or has been thickened to a "creamy" texture, it is no longer a drink.
  17. I think there's probably a compromise to be struck - on one end asking the pub to turn down the volume after a certain time, making sure doors are not left open, garden not used after 10pm, etc. On your end, looking at things like moving your daughter to the quitest room, considering things like white noise generators, etc. Squirrel, please don't be too offended at what people have posted - there is a precedent of a small number of awkward neighbours making life difficult for boozers, hence people are defensive. IMO you are not being unreasonable. But although the Cherry Tree do sometimes post on here, you really would be better off speaking with them directly.
  18. I do sympathise with the "you moved next to a pub" argument, but at the end of the day there are quite a few homes near the pub (which have been there an awful long time) and I guess someone has to live there. So attempting to strike some kind of balance seems preferable to villainizing the neighbours.
  19. And their fish & chips cost ?13 - I think for that price it needs to be pretty good.
  20. Little in common IMO. Inside 72 was a small, basic, cramped dive bar. Watsons is something very different.

"Is stew soup"? Is that a real question?
  23. A private individual/neighbour? A local business?
  24. I think the "having a pop at toffs" comment probably referred to Grok's idiotic contribution (Jemima/Tarquin/Land Rover/etc).

Are we talking just soup and salad? Or a few other options too? (toasties, baked spuds, quiche, whatever)? Not convinced you need a USP if the food is good..
