  4. I just hope we play the USA third!
  5. I confess this was down to my wizened old digits trembling with excitement over the keyboard. I have problems with my "r's".... I have an "Apple Legover" recipe I am willing to exchange, but I hesitate to fiddle with a spotted dick...Perhaps we should start a pudding club in ED? Would you care to join PGC? B)
  6. Clearly the reincarnation of Fanny Cradock is alive and well and fuming in Dulwich! I am sure I cannot be the only red-blooded male here who yearns to taste Louisa's treacle sponge: let us be grateful it wasn't the legenday spotted dick...>:D
  7. *smirks*
  8. "Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough..." I suppose Her Maj likes the Berkshire pile because it's so handy for "Slough Grammar". She's just like so many ED matres really! :)

  12. 50 Sylvester Road 60 Ferris Road
  13. But don't any blokes attend then? B)
  14. She had good taste then. The annual display of the rhododendrons in May is one of the local wonders not to be missed...
  15. Queen Mary not Victoria liked the park and has a gate named after her. I remember the year TBW turned on the Village Christmas lights....*still shuddering*...
  16. Well I hope Ennis gets it - hard working champion with relatively little financial reward....but "successful" F1 drivers and boxers always seem to get the old block voting organised so I reckon Button will get it. The award to a foreign sports star this year goes to Thierry Henry...B)
  17. Well I solved it, but admittedly not with 13 blanks. I had a couple of the letters. HIJKLMNO though I got instantly! :)
  18. A voluptuous barmaid....B)
  19. One good way to learn is to try, say, the Guardian crossword, then compare the following day's solution and work out how the clues were constructed. Different cryptic crossword setters have different styles which you learn to pick up with practice. My favourite Guardian cryptic crossword clue ever was:- E (13)
  20. _ _ _ C Epic? SimonM
  21. No matter the punishment, nothing de-turd him....
  22. You only have to look at Babur's menu (the restaurant though, not the takeaway/home delivery) to see how the LL establishments are practically clones of each other... I have this fancy that at dead of night a huge tanker, like a petrol tanker, inches slowly along LL, stopping at intervals to connect a thick black rubber hose to each curry house and pump a fresh week's supply of "Basic Indian Sauce" into their basements....
  23. So will West Ham v Arsenal be a battle of the 2nd XIs?
  24. 25) (or thereabouts) losing weight
  25. In the 60's USA I'd have thought Presley would have a higher recognition rating than Cash: and Marilyn Monroe!
