  1. Congratulations to Arsenal on topping the table (so glad I picked Fabregas for my Fantasy team!) So......what odds now on Moyes being the 1st premiership manager of the season to get the Spanish Archer??:))
  2. So who will be the 1st premiership manager to get the boot? And which month will it be? It could still be Hughes if Man City don't make a flying start.
  3. No...but returning to Dulwich along the south circular from Streatham/Tulse Hill late morning there was an illuminated sign up warning that the road by Brockwell Park was closed..
  4. Aston Villa 2 Wigan 0 Blackburn 0 Man City 1 Bolton 2 Sunderland 1 Chelsea 3 Hull 0 Everton 1 Arsenal 0 Portsmouth 0 Fulham 0 Stoke 1 Burnley 0 Wolverhampton 1 West Ham 1 Man Utd 2 Birmingham 0 Tottenham 2 Liverpool 1
  5. You really cannot blame Wenger for the low esteem in which the Carling is held. It has never been popular with anyone in all its various incarnations, as the pitifully low attendances in almost every round bear out. It's never had the glamour or appeal of the FA Cup, which in theory at least any club - including non-league clubs - in the country might win. The really big clubs ensured they'd not have to take part until the last possible moment. In fact I would argue Wenger has, if anything, made the competition more interesting not less, and I write as one who saw his team thrashed 6-0 by "Arsenal Juniors" last season and 3-0 by Eduardo & Co the season before.
  6. Indeed, right from its beginnings as the Football League Cup, and even when winning it got you an automatic place in Europe...

  8. I'm really not too bothered about going out of the Carling - especially as the 2nd round draw would have meant a somewhat incongruous Sheffield derby. Blackwell of course was spitting feathers at the team's performance - I just hope the team reacts to this positively against Watford on Saturday! Paddy Kenny's FA hearing is now on Tuesday apparently. I see a player just got a 3 month suspension (backdated) for being in possession of recreational drugs, which I am hoping is viewed by the FA as being rather more serious than taking an over the counter cold remedy.... But yes, let it go for goodness sake!
  9. Ann Summers.....>:D
  10. *Takes series of cold shower after watching the YouPube (sic) clip...* A site of vastly important scientific interest is here
  11. What you need is a pet hedgehog.... only they tend to have fleas...
  12. Is this the one at the bottom of Spurling Road? I see it also permits cyclists to go the "wrong" way up there. Years ago I lived on that road and you'd get a double line of vehicles trying to exit it on to the roundabout in the mornings, which even then was a bit hazardous. Not really suitable for taking it fast then, unless you want to wrap the Porsche around the palm tree...>:D
  13. >>Speaking of the fusty old place, why are half the display cases in the dark? << Personally I like that lighting (or lack of it). I think it adds to the Victorian atmosphere and the slight creepiness of the whole thing. You could easily see Sherlock Holmes solving a murder committed in there. And beards are unutterably stylish: and save the bother of shaving.
  14. >>if you were selling a house they are probably the best at getting a good price, thats why they have been successful. << Evidence???
  15. Has the word "trendy" now come full circle and it is now - uh - trendy again to use it? We only used the word ironically back in the 60's but, hell, what do I know?! The thing about being "exclusive" though is that if you take it too far you end up going bust...
  16. Wow....so if they'd not lost their nerve the filmmakers could have treated us to Sarah Michelle Gellar being hung on a meat hook?! Where's Mr Pointy when you need him?!
  17. Yeah, the "new" Horniman is better in so many ways and yet...and yet....I still do miss the fusty old place!
  18. It's apples that attract maggots not blackberries. It's quite easy after all to check out the blackberries first but apples are a different matter. The only thing worse that biting into an apple and finding a maggot in it is finding half a maggot...
  19. "A Very Long Engagement" "Lady & The Tramp"
  20. >>Strangers On A Train is a great spooky thriller with one of the all time classic psychos in Robert Shaw. << Shome mistake shawly? (haha). Robert Walker not Robert Shaw. Shaw though was half of one of the most memorable fighters-on-a-train in "From Russia With Love". My worst-ever single moment in horror films I think is still that scene in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" where old leatherface hangs her on a meathook.
  21. For some reason I cannot back into the old EDF league...probably because I cannot recall my login details or know the code...hmmm
  22. Incidentally, fans of the Horniman who are also on facebook may be interested in this Walrus
  23. So is the 5th Test going to be another virtual three-dayer too then??
  24. There were massive tailbacks on Underhill & Lordship Lane during the afternoon. I went past the Horniman just after 1pm and it was already obvious this was going to be one massively-attended event! So what were the queues for the food like then?? I can quite imagine 10K people being rather too many for the Horniman Gardens, what with all its hills and narrowish paths and so on
