  1. For what it's worth I have found a couple of mornings good from 2yrs, up to 5 mornings from 2.5yrs worked for my boys.
  2. Saturday morning club at the Albrighton centre, Albrighton rd 10 til 1230 I think
  3. Thanks for all this....I think his keenness was probably just a passing phase!....think I'll see if the teacher has any extra worksheets she thinks would help..thank you
  4. Thanks for this - do you think it makes much difference that they are 8yrs old? Surprised there are not more recent ones around?
  5. My son just announced he wanted to do some Sats practice....wanting to encourage this I have just spent ages trying to find some practice sheets/games on the net that you don't have to register or pay for....Have just given up and told him to play a computer game instead?! Any tips should he show such interest again?!
  6. Infact I think it's much harder when the parent is around!
  7. Badgers is the youngest group for St Johns Ambulance so although it is not a replacement for scouts or brownies it is similar with a special emphasis on first aid. I guess the main difference is that it is for boys and girls together. They do have a handbook though with a variety of badges to aim for and a very smart uniform! There is no waiting list at the moment as it is a newish group (started in March I think) and I'm not sure if there is a local website but if you search on St John's and badgers the national website comes up with loads of information. ?1.50 a session 5-6.30pm
  8. There is a tumble session at the Albrighton Centre on a Tues morning.
  9. Names can be put down from the age of two for nursery and I'm pretty sure that often nursery is based on the child's age as opposed to distance from school (hence why many get into the nursery but not school). If not done ASAP you may find others who put their name down before you will get the places on a first come first serve basis. If she is older than two persuade grandma to go into the school on Tues just after the half-term break (or go in yourself and pick up an application form). Good Luck. Ps think local nurseries have already offered their places for this Sept
  10. On a wet half-term Thurs I have just dropped my boys off to do some first aid and then create their own Jubilee party...really recommend it and as a new club, would be great to see some new little East Dulwich Badgers (They are working on their 'I Care' badge at the moment) Badgers are 5+ and then for the older kids there are cadets from 7pm I think. Tell Grove in same building as Oak Tree Nursery.
  11. And do it now not in September when all places will have been allocated....Also check the admissions process for entry into the reception class as the deadline tends to be the Jan before entry...you don't want to miss that too...living nearby will not guarantee you a place if you don't get your application in on time.
  12. Dulwich Hamlet have a sports academy you can do by the day.
  13. Anyone noticed any boats parked up for the celebrations near Tower Bridge? Thinking of going down there tomorrow afternoon and wondered if there was anything to see? Thanks.
  14. Yes,yes,yes.....oh how nice would it be to lose foxtons and gain something useful!! Wish you lots of luck in the venture (even if it didn't involve Foxtons!) and yes another vote for ED over Forest Hill.
  15. Yep, if drivers can't be grown up enough to stop at zebra crossings maybe lights are the only safe option....
  16. There'll definately be mum's who have or have had kids in the nursery so we'll be able to give you the low-down!
  17. Just bought my crisps and juice....looking forward to meeting some of you tomorrow!
  18. I am more worried about the non-stopping at zebras than the speed itself so don't think the speed cameras will help.
  19. I too was going to find out what can be done to slow traffic down here and force cars to stop at the crossings. It is a daily route to school for us as well as many Charter School kids. They have an active flashing sign further up which flashes if you are doing more than 30. No one reacts to it and it just spends the day flashing!....I agree it must be frustrating having bumps put up all over the place but when car drivers consistently flout the rules at the risk of pedestrians what else are you meant to do. I would be happy to put a traffic light crossing there instead just to punish those daily floaters not mature enough to see that reacting to a zebra crossing is less inconvenient than having to stop at another red light!

    Ask Admin

Hi Admin, Still same problem with PM's not being alerted to...Three in my inbox tonight but no message saying they were there?
  21. The children's outpatient department at Kings could do with some more toys (though probably not the soft ones). Worth ringing them beforehand (Hambleden Wing).
  22. Kings are world leaders in nuchal scanning (was developed there) and so I personally would not waste the money at Harley St, it won't change the results. Getting the results from the CVS is the most important priority and will probably need chasing (I would even get your midwife to chase a bit early to try and cut down the wait). Try and have your partner with you when you chase so that you are both together when you get them. Everyone I know who had increased risk (remember that that is what it is (even a 1/4 chance means 75% of being ok) including myself, went on to have a healthy baby so it is not unlikely (but obviously people discuss 'negative' outcomes less). By being at kings they will also check really carefully if downs is ruled out, for heart defects, and again it is incredible what they can check with their specialism (couldn't believe the detail of the unobtrusive heart scan). You are so lucky to be at Kings for this, you really are in the best place. I hope things work out ok for you.
  23. There is no telling but I think it would be very unlikely by the beginning of term but possible in the first year or so depending on the school. There will still be lots of movement but it will be up and down and I would have thought the main movement would have already happened?...
  24. No, it's ok, just searched back and there is a picnic in the park on the Tues specifically for the Jubilee.
  25. James Barber mentioned something on in Dulwich Park...anyone have some more details? Thanks
