    Ask Admin

Hi admin, I used to get told if I had a pm waiting but don't I think, since the upgrade. Is this on purpose or a glitch? Thanks
  2. Yes a great idea but may have to market yourself cleverly to ensure you overcome the negative feeling towards the nhs system....
  3. Blimey, that's a huge turn around isn't it....went to the children's centre when it opened and found it very welcoming.
  4. If you can afford it I would definately go for a independent midwife to ensure continuity of care and have someone 'on your side' who is also qualified in the medical side.
  5. He already does a mixed class at school (he is one of two boys in the class) and really enjoys it. I thought I would see if there was a boys only class that was a bit more focused/serious to complement the one he is doing. I think there are a lot of boys who would give it a go but are put off by all the pink. I once heard on the radio about a boys only class set up in Cornwall which was hugely popular - they geared it more towards the boys (ie not accidentally alluding to being princesses and fairies all the time!)
  6. Can't find any on the web ..... Any info greatly received...
  7. My experience of using the place was that I would get stressed out on my way there guessing what would go wrong on each trip....decided it was healthier not to go!!
  8. Does anyone know if this's still on and what time on a weds?
  9. Yes, like Amott Road too and cheaper as Parent run.
  10. Second Magic Moments, a great introduction and they are usually helpful if you need the odd extra day.
  11. Sounds fantastic....for future planning could you consider a Sunday instead of a Friday as kids at school and Sats tend to be busy....Although do understand there are grown ups interested ad well!
  12. The church on Tell Grove, where Oak Tree Nursery is.
  13. Aldi won WHICH supermarket of the year...again, think you're more worried about image than reality!
  14. Don't think these are graffiti as he got permission to do them.
  15. E-dealer I think you'll find that Iceland is not a 'failing' chain. Google Iceland and profits and you'll see that in June last year their profits were up a whopping 20%...a bit better than m&s I suspect..I would guess part of this increase is due to the recession and people having to watch what they spend? And Iceland does help squeezed budgets... By the way I am aware that discussing the pros and cons is pointless as it will be a business decision made by the two companies involved.
  16. I Don't look down my nose at ready meal eaters just know it's not healthy and don't want to bring up my kids on them (even though I am a rubbish cook!)....I'm with you tarafitness a Waitrose would be better than m&s at least if you shop carefully you can get some good basics....
  17. This is on tomorrow - Sophie is lovely and the boys learn first aid as well as other stuff....lots of crafts, games and guest speakers. They have recently been covering the work of animal shelters and how to care for animals generally. ?1.50 a session - well worth giving it a try!
  18. As a family with three young kids I do all my essential shopping in Iceland...Milk is ?1 for 4pints much cheaper than elsewhere......this will have a massive impact on my weekly shop...and with no car I won't be 'popping' to Peckham. People might not like the image of Iceland but it is a Well used community shop - the staff are always great and the queues managed well. Seeing it go would be another sad product of gentrification - the shops on Lordship Lane risk serving only one segment of the population....here comes Clapham!
  19. What's wrong with putting yourself on multiple lists? The nursery doesn't lose out just goes to the next person on the list.....The 'admin' fee is a complete con.
  20. Really wish someone local would set up a website with local job opportunities. There must be quite a few businesses around here that need staff which would match up well to the skills of local mums (and others), many of whom are massively qualified and experienced at a range of jobs. One of the big problems is the time taken up travelling to work, working locally frees up more time between school runs.
  21. If it's a Southwark school yes. You remain on the waiting list for all the schools above the one you got.
  22. Bookstart at the Albrighton.
  23. My concern about focusing on new primary schools only is that we are continually encouraging more and more new families to the area without being able to provide the eduction at secondary level - therefore people either have to move out of the area or be schooled elsewhere which can be detrimental to the kids relationships and the sense of community built up. We don't have a co-ed secondary at the heart of East Dulwich.
