    strike

Oh get out of it. The public sector pay taxes too. I have worked in the NHS for the ast 26 years & wasn't lured away in the late 80's to the late 90's when all around me were deserting to work for private agencies with the short term promise of twice the salary and yes it was almost twice during those years, I tried to take a more long term view and yes that was the prospect of a promised pension and then for that to suddenly be threatened are we not allowed to be angry. The last time nurses went on strike was in 1988 and yes I was out that day too although as a student but a salaried student. Lives will not be compromised by the proposed strike on Wednesday as there will be a bank holiday service.

  17. Reporting to social services doesn't always have negative consequences, maybe these are parents who are desperate for help and not coping, social services maybe able to offer advice and maybe much needed support to parents who maybe at the end of their tether and because of the "middle class label" not so overtly obvious as needing help. I wouldn't hesitate in contacting Social Services as these parents may be desperate for help but may not be hitting the radar as a family in need due to perceived ability to cope.
  18. The Devonshire arms Forest Hill is really good and serve all day
  19. Not all who live in ex council properties bought them at cheap prices it is only those who were previously council tenants had the right to buy. So it's not necessarily a case of having it both ways and if the council used some of the astronomical service charges they collect to maintain their properties they would not need to do such major works.
  20. used to see jason mcniff at the easycome when it was at the stuart arms with Hank Dogs there was some good stuff there then

edited cos what i wrote originally was nonsense, but your sentiments were so sweet, what I wrote about was an add? on c4 called laid off, was a bit heartbreaking but guess you needed to see it which I guess at this hour many wont have.
  22. I don't think anyone is wishing death on anyone,at 80 something that's what happens but mourn her we shall not.
  23. It was slightly surreal, was in the plough myself no sirens nothing strange until the air ambulance hovered overhead and then landed in the middle of the road, if their response time is that quick fantastic and definetly worth having.
