  1. When the weather was very hot I was walking past a local primary school in the afternoon and there were a couple of women sitting in 4x4s with their engines running so that they had the air con on I suppose- doesn't help the rest of us.

rh you are only quoting those that are actually convicted- tip of the iceberg... https://fullfact.org/europe/over-here-and-under-arrest-are-romanians-responsible-90-atm-crime/ how many are still on the loose? oh yes what about the Chocolate fiasco http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/678141.stm and the french boycott of British beef http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/1409136/France-likely-to-escape-paying-beef-ban-fine.html

This was 2011 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/8439117/EU-migrants-commit-500-crimes-a-week-in-UK.html and the Latvian who murdered Alice gross had already killed his own wife and served time and then came in and out of the UK 7 times and was not prevented. There are powers to stop criminals who've served 2 years in jail from not entering but they slip through the net.

A bit more realistic http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/11/boris-johnson-accuses-eu-extortion-brexit-divorce-bill-says/ since the EU haven't had a budget ratified I imagine they are conjuring up figures based on the extra that Germany and France will have to pay after we are gone
  5. Not only do people on benefits for example, do cash in hand work but there are larger concerns that will give a discount for cash payment.
  6. couple of rotweillers would solve that problem
  7. about time- went to Leeds on a Friday- booked up well in advance as you do- the train was half empty all the way

just to redress the balance (the 'Independent' ha ha ha) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2017/03/28/farmers-across-europe-will-suffer-uk-drops-food-tariffs-report/
  9. add to that californian merlot
  10. Yep, to quote 'it takes a whole village to raise a child'
  11. Flower names are usually given to girls- Daisy, Rose, Lily etc Felix is a cat's name imho Rohan is a place in Tolkein's realms I'm waiting for Ned, Rickon, Bran, Arya and Sansa etc to turn up soon
  12. you can only read it if you subscribe it seems. Maybe sand12 could write a summary
  13. this is contagious- there are people trying to sell holes on the For Sale section, and people wanting holes in the Items wanted section- must be the heat
  14. could be - or foreign exchange kids being dropped off for collection on top of the usual
  15. Yes- experts are what is needed not a load of people trying to make political capital out of a tragedy. And as for Yvette Williams -whoever she is- it is probably her and her stirrers that say the survivors are becoming increasingly angry, because the survivors are more than likely glad to have survived and are just waiting patiently to be dealt with
  16. I went to Denmark Hill from Highbury on the Overground and I'm sure it went through Canada Water?
  17. Well, singalto- if it is anything like the DC Founder's Day effort the parents would be too drunk on the extra strong Pimms to notice the tannoy
  18. Purley Way is about the nearest for John Lewis Home and lots of other large stores and loads of free parking
  19. Most charities have raffles and offer a new car as the prize- there has to be an incentive. And anyway, many people who send their children to a private school actually give up luxuries, exotic holidays etc to afford it- it is a lifestyle choice after all. I've taught a fair few children down the line who could have done with some of the money that mummy and daddy spent on flash cars and holidays being used for some private tutoring instead- it's a question of priorities and sacrifice.
  20. This has effectively been going on ONCE a year for 401 years.....it is always on the same Saturday in the year and there will be fireworks- at least there have been every year but they may be confined to DC. Just to put things into perspective- someone near me has a stinking barbecue almost every week with music and loud drinking noise....I would gladly swap
  21. And this just about says it all- the headline should say LABOUR MPs- typical biased rubbish from the misnamed Independent http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/grenfell-fire-kensington-council-control-government-seize-labour-mps-nick-paget-brown-a7817516.html
  22. OK that's all right then!
  23. The P4 runs from Brixton to Lewisham and always has done....your little minds are working overtime tonight
  24. Reminded me of that old film with Maggie Smith....
  25. Here's one potential http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/29/grenfell-fraud-man-arrested-suspicion-claiming-had-lost-family/
